have been pondering this for a while,we have decidded to extend.to get the house we want if we moved would cost way 2 much.
We love the area were in love the upstairs of house were in but DW not satisfyed with downstairs.Lounge north facing so spend most time in kitchen dinner and hardly use dinning room
plan is to extend accross the back and side, 11meters across back and 8meters down side. This would convert the old dinning room into a new living room 19feet long by 16 feet with skylights in the new bit to add light.Kitchen dinner about same but in a C shape as a wall there giving it an open plan feel to the kitchen leading onto the DW dream of a utility:rotfl2:As in constuction (joiner)and BIL a brickie costs would be keept down.So no nead to get a firm in.Plan on starting easter DW wants finnished for xmas,i havent told here which one:rotfl2: so from next easter will be away from boards for a while being a bussy bee

Sounds like a lot of work, with a great result at the end of it Paul!
You will have to post photos once you get started on it, so we can see how its coming on!

sounds like hard work :headache: it sounds like a great plan though :thumbsup2

rather have the hard work of building than the stress of moving. As long as DW dosnt do what we did last time.I built a 2 story extension on old house finished everthing then we moved

We spent a year totally refurbishing our last house, - extended, converted the loft, replaced the kitchen and bathrooms and so on. About halfway through the work, I saw our current house and fell in love! We weren't really in any position to sell/buy/do anything but I really wanted this house and told the people selling we weren't part of a chain so they accepted our offer. DH took holiday time and we worked 24/7 finishing the old place. It was very stressful, juggling two properties and I had to promise faithfully I wouldn't want to move again. Fortunately I've kept my promise - we've been here almost 9 years... :goodvibes

plus i`ve prommised dw not to take too long doing it,last one felt like 10 years:rotfl2: in the makeing.if we wanted to move would cot 450k+ and as mortgage free at moment dont want to do that house around the 300k mark extension would push it around the 350k-400k mark with no mortgage:woohoo: no briainer would think

thats what hapened here as well

Ahhh! ;) I really want to extend here now. I'd like a new master bedroom suite and a separate dining room plus the garage needs knocking down and replacing. A friend of mine has had a fantastic basement dug out at her place - I'm so tempted. In fact, I've made an appointment with a basement specialist to see what's involved and, more importantly, how much £££!!! :rolleyes1

Definitely! :thumbsup2 It's the right thing to do. Esp as the fees just to sell are crazy nowadays. Good luck... :goodvibes

As we say at work, specialsts cost a fortune, its us joiners/carpenters who have to put there work right:rotfl2:

That's what my DH says too and he's just a competent DIYer! :lmao: I'm just getting this guy round to pick his brains - I have no shame...
