Afraid I have to agree with the majority. If it was your only option, you could try it, but to just "save" $$$ - no, there are better ways. An apartment may open up in your area, you could get on a waiting list, that would be a better option, even if you had to wait 3-6 months. Good luck with your decision.

I'm going to go against the majority and say it is worth giving it a shot! Before I would totallycommit to it I would definately have the 3 of you sit down and talk about what the basic "rules" would be so that everyone is comfortable with what the situation would be.

That is a significant amount of $ to save every month and really could give you a good running start at getting another place of your own in a relatively short period of time (~1 to 2 years)

If I were you I would cancel the cruise and any other vacations and save the $$$$ for a house.
