Hi all,

It's been a long time since I updated the GPS files on MouseSavers. A few people recently reminded me that I hadn't added Art of Animation Resort, so I took the opportunity to go through the whole thing. The new ones aren't wildly different, but they have some useful edits and fixes.

The files can be downloaded here:

MouseSavers GPS Page

For those who don't already know, these are free files that contain a set of custom Points of Interest (POI) covering the WDW property and immediate area, plus the area around Universal Orlando. They work on Garmin, TomTom, and Magellan GPS units. They generally do a better job of routing you to the right place while driving around WDW because the points I created are placed on the driveway leading to the destination, unlike the points built into most GPS units that may be in the middle of a park or in some cases in a wildly wrong location on the other side of the property. They also have the addresses and phone numbers for every location that has an address. (Fun fact: the major WDW parks have no addresses!)

Here are the changes:

Removed some closed locations and fixed name/address on others. Added hotels: Art of Animation Resort and Holiday Inn Resort Lake Buena Vista. Added restaurants: Landscape of Flavors, Be Our Guest, Paradiso 37, Bodie’s All-American, Monsieur Paul, Crossroads at House of Blues, and Les Halles. Added Splitsville bowling lanes and lounge. Added new Publix location. New location for library, post office, and one Centra Care. Adjusted some rental car locations for Alamo, National, Thrifty, and Dollar.

Comments and questions are welcome, either here or by emailing me at the MouseSavers address listed at the bottom of the GPS page. (But I can't help with the rest of MouseSavers - I just do the GPS files.)

Another BIG thank you. I have used your POIs for many years. Thanks for the updates.

You are quite welcome!

I have a related question for folks here. Is there anyone here who uses a smartphone as a driving GPS? If so, I'd love to know what kind of phone (Android, iPhone, Windows Phone) and what software you use.

There are a few smartphone apps that may have some kind of back-door way to add POIs, but there are a ton of different driving GPS programs for various smartphones and I don't want to jump into this unless I know there are people using them, hopefully who can try out the POI files once I figure out how to get them onto the phone.
