People who go to Disney every year or so are looked down on, made fun of, etc. Reason, jealousy. Disney is super expensive, especially now. It is double or more than what I would pay to go to Destin, my favorite beach in Florida. But no one would bat an eye at eye at me for a trip to Destin each year. That is kind of dismissive. People go to WDW for a number of reasons and saying that they are "addictive" is a bit rude. One of the reasons that I go as a solo female traveler is because it is safe. I don't have to worry about driving or coming back when it is dark. WDW is a safe, easy, and convenient destination. There is so much to do there other then going to the parks. Do you tell people that go camping every year that they are "feeding their addiction"? Or those who go to the same beach, or go skiing every year? And while there are those people who want daily housekeeping, there are plenty out there that don't like the intrusion. Some of us don't want them to come in and mess with our stuff every day. So people that don't want housekeeping because of issues like anxiety, can't go to WDW without being name called as addicts? Come on man.
Yes you are correct, however at a Homewood Suites in BWI they did do Housekeeping Daily.I just spent 4 nights at a Courtyard Marriott in Jacksonville and had no housekeeping at all, so definitely not limited to Disney.
And how do you know that it is still not staffing issues? They are still hiring housekeepers. Why would they do that if they have all of the staff that they need? Again, with the amount of rooms that WDW has, even at half capacity, they would need about 1000 housekeepers a day to clean the rooms. And that is 1 housekeeper cleaning 18 rooms a day, which is a boat load of work for them. How can you compare hotels with a couple hundred rooms(maybe) to the tens of thousands of rooms that WDW has? And they did recently announce that they will be going back to a more normal housekeeping schedule. I don't know how you can so confidently claim it is "strictly cost cutting" just because the couple of much smaller hotels where you stayed at full housekeeping.Just had fullhousekeeping in Utah and Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Strictly cost cutting at this point.
I agree. They've been holding job fairs and offering sign-on bonuses. And how do you know that it is still not staffing issues? They are still hiring housekeepers. I think the issue is that people who are issued at Disney judge how others spend their money.People who go to Disney every year or so are looked down on, made fun of, etc. Reason, jealousy. But we are going to Disney one more time because we have stored tickets. Then after that, we will be venturing more to Destin. Reason being price.
Many people have the same vacation destinations that they go to all the time. But no one says anything to them about it. What's the difference?I think the issue is that people who are issued at Disney judge how others spend their money.
If I still see the value, it’s a d**k move to say I’m feeding an addiction. Why the eff does anyone care where and how I spend MY money?
But - if DIsney needs to hire 1000 housekeepers, that means right now disney is not paying the money those 1000 housekeepers would get. So Disney is saving money on housekeeping paychecks. that saving should be passed along to the consumers, who are still paying the same room rate that paid for housekeeping. That is the main complaint. The money we pay for the room includes the cost of housekeeping (which is no longer available). So, disney either needs to subtract that cost from the room rate, OR give guests a perk in terms of dinner coupons, merchandise, etc.Everyone is short staffed now. You seem to think that Disney is magical and can snap their fingers and fill every position instantly. To believe that Disney can just instantly fill all positions "if they wanted to" is hilarious. Especially for something like housekeeping. It's a crap job that people don't want to do. I have yet to see anyone say that they would happily do that job.
If it is a staffing issue, you don’t increase rates. Universal had full daily housekeeping in October. When I stayed at the Yacht Club in March they did not. I believe people are upset that Disney is cutting back on everything but their prices. And how do you know that it is still not staffing issues? They are still hiring housekeepers. They don't care. In my case, other women were just plssed at me for having the money. This has been going on with me for yearsssss.I think the issue is that people who are issued at Disney judge how others spend their money.

THIS . I get people that say, "you are going to Disney AGAIN?" and I just look at them and smile and say YES! And because I know where they vacation every year, I smile and say, are you going to "insert vacation destination here" AGAIN? They change their tune when I've turned the tables back on them. We take multiple short trips every year. The beach, west virigina mountain cabin, my sister's in North Carolina and Disney. Week long vacations just don't work with our current schedule. The only trip people ever question is Disney. My money to spend the way I want. Many people have the same vacation destinations that they go to all the time. But no one says anything to them about it. What's the difference?
