Mousekeeping???

Five dollars, twice time a day. One for the morning Mousekeeping and the other for the evening turn down Mousekeeping.

thanks DisneyAdore,
If we are gone all day do you just leave 2 envelopes?
And do value have turn down service? Im guessing not??

We stayed at a Moderate and they did not have evening turn down service. There are two of us and I left $3 a day and I did leave it every day since you might not have the same person cleaning every day. We are very neat and clean people. I put everything away, hang up the towels before we leave, make up the bed, clean the sink and counters etc. So there really is not a lot for them to do. I try to be "green" and don't want new sheets and towels every day.

We never stay out the whole day. After my chemo I need to rest a few hours in the afternoon.

I use these cool Mousekeeping envelopes you can print your selves.:thumbsup2

We left $5 a day for the 4 of us. We were at the POP. I had preprinted envelopes that I had mad at home, and I tape them to the mirror so that they wouldn't miss it. I only had 1 day out of 10 that they did not take it.

I also leave 5 dollars each day, sometimes a bit more for great towel animals and service at POFQ.

What would I tip if it is just my 7 year old daughter and me? I am a neat freak so the room will be in order with minimal cleaning. Do you think 2.00 a day at POP is acceptable? Thoughts on this anyone?

We leave $5 a day
This year we are leaving our tip in gold dollar coins hoping we can stand out a bit and maybe get some towel animals or something special.

Around here, most people I know really dislike being tipped in the $1 coins. :confused3

I have no idea about in Disney, but just a warning, that they may not be as well received as you are hoping.

The four of us stayed at the POP last year and I paid $5 a day. We never got any towel animals at anytime of our trip :( I was so disappointed!

Dang, now I have to figure out what to do with the $40 in coins I got from the bank. I thought it would be something neat since you don't see the coins very often.

I wonder if they don't like them because they jingle and jangle in your pocket, are somehow more inconvenient than bills, or if their is some subconscious association with loose change making them think $5 in gold dollars is less than $5 in bills. :confused3

I don't get it. It's kind of like finding treasure!

We left $3 in golden dollars every day on our 7 day trip in September. We probably had five or six towel animals by the end of the week. I doubt it had anything to do with the tips though. I think we were just lucky. I would think I they were left a tip, they would be pleased whether it is bills or coins. It spends the same.

I use the design board on here and make the envelopes for my "tips". I leave a $1.00 per person per day:) Like the other posters, make sure it is out in site as they may not find it and you may have different keepers everyday. I left our envelope on my pillow. I put the money in the envelopes before I leave home so they are ready when I get there:) I do the same for my table service tips..I use the envelope designs for these also from the design board...great talent over there:)

I think it's a cute idea. I can understand while in the ... real world? :rotfl: it might not be the best tip option but in Disney it might be adorable to the Mousekeepers if you make it special (this is of course just my opinion I've never been to WDW myself). Maybe preprint some envelopes with pirates and treasure chest on them or something? What better place to get creative than Disney? :artist:

What if we set the money out of the way somewhere (like in the bathroom or on the window sill) and left a treasure map. Nothing that would take up their time, but something cute and simple.

I think you are very creative to think of the treasure map idea. I'm trying to imagine how I feel when I'm cleaning -- my sense of humor is not always in tact! ;) BUT I guess it depends on who is cleaning. With the right person, you could absolutely make their day!!

And I'd like to add... I have enjoyed how nice and respectful everyone on this thread has been of everyone's opinions!

I went to WDW last April and didn't even realize we were supposed to tip Mousekeeping! I'm from Canada and I've rarely heard of people doing this here, at least when it comes to hotels, I guess cruises and all inclusives yes.

I guess now I'm curious if this is just expected? Does everyone tip? Thanks so much!

Not everyone tips. In fact discussions about the matter tend to get quite heated. Best to avoid the debate entirely.
