I heard that some of the housekeeping staff leave towels etc. in special shapes or forms for the kids. Does anyone know how to make sure it happens in your room? Or is it just luck?
My kids would love it! princess:

I'm not sure. I've heard about it, but it never happened to my family while we were in disney.

Last October at POR Mousekeeping left different towel animals everyday of our 10 day stay.
My grand daughters looked so forward to them.
I have some pics if any one is interested

We stayed at the Grand Floridian 3 yrs ago. We didn't request it but each day mousekeeping had a towel animal sitting on my daughters bed. They even took my daughters Barbies they had brought along and sat them in a circle around the towel animal. My girls got the biggest kick out of it. We have stayed at AKL each year since then and have never had a towel animal in our room there. I guess maybe they feel they have enough animals running around AKL already..LOL

We just returned from a week at Pop. When we returned from our first full day in the park, the maid had left my kids' stuffed Eeyore and Goofy tied up in the window curtains peeking out. My kids loved it. They noticed lots of towel animals in the other windows as we walked back to our room everyday, but we never, ever got anything special after that first day. We even tipped the mousekeepers, so I'm not sure what causes them to leave suprises. I think it just must be their mood at the time.

everytime we have stayed in the Caribbean Beach resort we have gotten the cute animal towels and they always arranged the stuffed animals and things we got that we left out in a cute way each time. I don't know about the other resorts though!

We have stayed at Pop twice, and both times DS got little towel animals. In October we were there for 9 nights and just got a towel creation on the last night, but it was a terrific surprise! Some of the ones we saw in other windows around the resort were amazing!

The Mousekeepers would also arrange DS's plush toys in cute little ways if he left them on the bed. :)

Must be luck or mood

My sister and I stayed in ajoining rooms and she got a couple of towel animals and stuffed animals rearranged.

We got our animals rearranged but no towel animals.

But we were just so excited to be there we didn't give it much thought

When we stayed at CBR our first trip, DD got 2 towel animals that week and we didn't tip until the last day of our trip (departure day). This was before me subscribing to the DIS-boards.

2nd trip, we tipped in envelopes every day and got no towel animals at all.

I think it just depends on who you have as a housekeeper, not everybody knows how to make them? Or if they have time?

This trip we'll be staying at POP...they're so cute to come back to your room and find, but it's not a given ;)

I wonder where the towel animals started? I did the Disney Cruise when it first started and that was the first I heard or saw of towel animals. Our housekeeping staff on the cruise did lots of towel animals for us and also moved the chairs around and did different room configuarations--although maybe they were just vacuming.... :confused3

At WDW, the only time that I had towel animals was when I was staying at the CBR with my sister and nephew. As other posters mentioned, they also did cute things with his stuffed animals. When we took the Disney Cruise (7 Day - Western Carib.) we had towel animals in our room every day.

We stayed at Pop about 3 weeks ago for 8 nights and never once received a towel animal. I tipped the maid $5 per day, each day. I did notice that the rooms on the 1st floor of our building seemed to have many rooms with towel animals in the windows but I did not see any on the second floor (where we were). I guess it does just depend on the maid, my kids weren't dissapointed because I never told them about them, just in case we didn't get any. We had an awesome time anyway! :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc

It's luck... I stayed 7 nights at Port Orleans in 2001 & never got anything.. we stayed 7 nights at the CR in 2004 & got one tiny ducky the entire time... Shhh.. I still have it!

We were there 2 weeks ago and got 1 washcloth duck out of our 6 day trip but every day there would be something. One day there was a towel holder for our toothbrushes (in their cases), we had a shirt/tie made out of towels, and fans.

It helps if you tip housekeeping a couple of dollars a day. We tip and usually we come back to our room with animals in it. However this last trip we tipped and we didn't get any animals. However we did get extra coffee and cups. I put the cups in the drawer at the end of the day. I drink the coffee and bring home the cups to my grandchildren to use. They get a kick out of them.

We only had towel animals once ... We stayed at POR and had towel animals and scenes with ds's stuffed animals daily. Since we have stayed at POR, CSR, AKL, and WL, and had not even the hint of a towel creation.

We tipped each time, so I do not think that tipping increases odds of getting a towel animal(s) ... my guess would be it depends on the particular housekeeper that you have.

We've had towel creations every time and we've been staying on site since '96. When my DS was little and had stuffed animals they were arranged also. We have stayed at ASSp and POR. This time we will be at POP.

On our last trip we were part of a very large group that stayed at CSR. I had heard about the towel critters and was really hoping to see them in our room as it was my youngest daughters first time at WDW. We never got any and the mousekeeper(same lady all week) did know we had a small child with us. I left a tip on the first few days and still nothing. One night at the pool about 50 of our group got together for some fun and I asked several people if they were getting the towel critters in their rooms. They all said yes and they were also getting lots of extra mickey soaps. We didn't even get 1 extra bar of soap. :confused3

That's what we came back to the first day there. I had a rough day being ill and this little bunny made my day.

Then the next day I wrote Margaurette (our housekeeper) a note on the tip envelope telling her she made my day and we had this waiting on the airconditioner.

I never met Margaurette, but she was an awesome housekeeper- room was always spotless, plenty of coffee and refills and soaps left and every night she changed up the way she made our bed- turned down- pillows stacked, always had fanned wash cloths.

Last year we stayed at AKL and we never got a towel animal-and the kids were with us then.

We were at the Poly for our first trip and I had shown my DD's from a special Poly Website the towels. The site made it sound like is was common and all the time. Finally after the 5th day, I asked about it. I felt like I was begging for them. We even tipped $5. a day. I was bummed. We stayed at POFQ last time. I would do stuff and leave the tip envelope in a design before we left for the parks. We would come back to some cute things. I think it is the maid. POLY said some know how and some don't know how to do it. So, it is the maid and luck of the spot. I will do the same again hoping for the return. If you tip they try more IMHO. :wave2:
