What is the typical tip per day for Mousekeeping? How much do you add if you request turn-down service?

I don't use turn down service so I'm not sure about that. We do tip mousekeeping $5 a day for two adults and one child. We leave the tip daily in those cute mousekeeping envelopes.

We usually tip $5 per day for mousekeeping. For turn down service, we leave $1 per bed or a $2 minimum. The person who does your mousekeeping is not the same person who does turn down service. You'll see that a lot of us on the boards recommend doing up daily tip envelopes ahead of time and labeling them for the service you're receiving. It helps to keep everything straight.

Thanks for posting the info. I was just thinking today that I needed that same information.

What does housekeeping staff do if you request "turn down service"? Is this available at the value resorts???

Turn down service is only available at the deluxe resorts. A staff member comes into your room between the hours of 5:15 and 9:45 (or call them for a time that's more convenient). They will replenish any towels or toiletries that you used during the day, after mousekeeping left. They'll empty the trash, leave a light on for you as well as the television playing softly. Your beds will be turned down and a chocolate will be left on your pillow. Most times the staff will have fun with any stuffed animals that you have in your room. Our kids often found theirs reading a book, or holding the tv clicker. It was a nice touch.

I always tip the mousekeepers daily. Usually $5 per day. We just returned from POR a few weeks ago and we tipped our mousekeeper each day we were there (except checkout day). We received "turn down service" ... sort of... the mousekeeper turned down our bed and left us a cute little..."towel animal" at the foot of the bed.

Do you mean the mousekeepers came into your room twice each day? They fixed the beds in the morning and returned at night and turned down the beds? I thought that was only offered at deluxes.

No...sorry....it wasn't real "turn down service" , they only came in once a day but they did turn the bed down which was a nice surprise...

Anybody here who can advise me on how to print the Mousekeeping envelopes? I cannot get the PDF file to print on the envelope and center to Mickey etc. I am not very computer savvy and am sure that I just need to hit a button or two to have it print correctly.

Thanks so much, dixiegirl, for the envelope link. They look great :earsgirl: I have to go and pick up some envelopes and try this out.

It looks like you've been to Dixie Landings quite a few times. Don't mean to hijack the thread, but do you have any recommendations for a first time family? We're staying 10/13 - 10/16. Alligator Bayou? Mansions? Thanks!

Mousekeeping evelopes work great. I printed them up before leaving for our WDW trip in July. Everyone from my group was so impressed that we were that organized. As a side note the first day the mousekeeper never picked up her envelope. So I took to taping it the the mirror which they clean every day. Worked like a charm.
