How many of you tip mousekeeping? I've read that we're not supposed to, but it seems everyone does. I've heard of the Mousekeepers doing fun things in your room for the kids, but when my friend went down last fall and stayed at POFQ, she said nothing special or out of the ordinary happened. If you tip, how much do you suggest for a family of 4? TIA

Yes, I guess (I've never received one) Guest Services gives out a flyer with appropriate tips for various jobs and Mousekeeping isn't one of them...BUT many many people tip anyway.

I've always tipped at all hotels and resorts my whole life...just as I tip on the Disney Cruise ship, and it's expected on the cruise ship...I see no difference when I'm a WDW.

My family of 4 tips an average of $1 a day per person. So $4 a day and sometimes more if they did something extra or great for us. I leave it daily in special Mousekeeping envelopes just in case I get a different maid each day.

I also tip $1/day/person. However, when we stayed at the Embassy Suites, I tipped an extra dollar because they have to take care of 2 rooms. I also tip extra when I ask for and/or get extra services (like extra pillows, towels, etc.) Hope this helps!:Pinkbounc

My husband and I leave 2 dollars, so that would fit the dollar a person thing, but I think I'd be too cheap to leave 4 dollars if I had 2 kids, unless they got chocolate fingerprints everywhere or something.

We also made little cards to attach the tip inside that said "thanks mousekeeping."

I also tip $1.00 per person per day.

Last year I printed envelopes for mousekeeping and will leave them in the room everyday, to my surprise nobody touched them , I called housekeeping and ask them and they told me that the mousekeepers are not allow(!!!) to take anything from the room they gave me a black envelope with a card that I will leave on top of the tv or table everyday and yes everyday we will come to the room to find a "surprise"

Nope don't tip and don't see a need to. I don't tip at other hotels, so why should I at Disney??

I think it "seems" that everyone tips but I think in all honesty it is just that there is a disportionate that do on the Dis.

But if you choose to tip it seems $1 per person per daily is the Norm (at least here on the Dis). If you don't choose to tip thats okay too, since as previously stated Mousekeeping is not a tipped position.

I tip because I feel bad that someone has to clean the toilet after my husband.:p

I wipe down bathrooms, make beds and vaccuum everyday. No one tips me!

Because I appreciate what a thankless job that is, I tip the mousekeepers. $5 per day for our family of 4. They deserve it for cleaning hair out of the sink and handling the dirty towels.

They took mine! I always left them on the pillow so they'd be sure to see them and know they were for them.

We tip, a couple of dollars the first day, and adjust according to the service we get. At All stars, we even stoped tipping toward the end of the week as we got the bare minium in cleaning and supply replinishish each day. At WL we have found the mousekeeping to be exceptional. We had the same woman everyday our last trip and she was great. We had more than enough of everything and there was a cute towel animal waiting for us each day. As she figured out DS was a little older, she started hidding the animals for him to find. We made several request and they were filled right away. We tipped he about 5 dollars everyday but that is not the norm. For routine cleaning we too tip 1.00 per person, per day.

My tip usually is based on how messy we are! If we aren't messy and are at a value to moderate resort, I usually tip $1 per person per day, although when I'm solo I tip $2, regardless!

It's really just my way of saying thank you for a thankless job! I use standard cheque envelopes (the fit currency and personal cheques perfectly) and just write (or print on the computer) Housekeeping[/I] and the date and place it near the sink. That way, they know it is for them!

If we're messy or at a deluxe resort (or upscale hotel), I usually tip $2 per person, maximum of $5 per day, unless we're total slobs (we aren't!).

Just go with what is comfortable for you and you'll be fine!

We waited to tip after we saw the quality of the service. I was pretty disappointed...our room wasn't all that clean, and we never got clean glasses. Aside from the beds being made and fresh towels, mousekeeping was nothing special.
There were 4 of us, for 7 nights. I kept things tidy and there were no exceptional messes.

I left a $10 in an envelope on the table the morning we checked out.

We tipped $1 per person per day (there were 3 of us). We came back on the next to last day and found 2 "towel angels" with a note that they were made for us and we could take them with us.
They were cute!

We are planning $5 (in ones) each day. Its our honeymoon and I feel bad for the desheviled way the bed will probably look. Plus, I understand that it is not normally appreciated. I like feeling appreciated, and I am sure they do too. We made our own envelopes using clipart and the Word Art feature in word.

When my mom and her friend went to WDW, They noticed that a lot of the other rooms had little towel animals and they never did. One day her friend left a note with a stuffed Donald asking for a friend. When they got back at the end of the day they had some towel animals. So if your mousekeeper doesn't leave you anything just ask. They just might surprise you!

As a former mousekeeper(All Star) I can say that about 80% of the guests tipped. $1 or $2 a day or $10-$20 at the end.

If you choose to tip I would recommend daily because it will be different mouskeepers. :)

For kids at All Star we would line up any stuffed animals in front of the tv and turn it on so the kids thought they were watching TV. Other things some did was leave them in the window like they were waiting for them to come back. There isn't "really" anything special that I was told of other than those.

When we went in October we tipped $5 a day for our room. 2 adults 2 children. In MIL room with our 2 neices we left $3 a day. We stayed at All star Sports and had a great housekeeper. She cleaned very good, talked to the kids, made towel animals. Left my son a woody picture with an autograph, neices got Snow white picture and Cinderella picture with autographs, they had the kids names on them too.(she asked thier names the day before) My 2 year old got a stuffed pumpkin from her. She made the stay wonderful. They deserve a tip especially when they go above and beyond.

:teeth: Have a great honeymoon Davids-Coco!

On our last trip we paid $1 per day per person most days (on the day our toddler spilled a big crushed-up bag of cheerios on the carpet, we tipped more!)

I admit that we wait to see what the service will be like before we tip.We have only stayed at the AKL and the service was awful. There was never enough towels. We had to call EVERY NIGHT! Also, we even had to call down for toilet paper. It was so embarassing. I'm hoping that it is better this time.April:Pinkbounc
