Hi everyone,
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I have a question.

How much does everyone leave for the mousekeepers at a value resort? Do you leave the tips every day?

TIA! :thumbsup2

I leave the money daily wherever we stay as I want the person who is servicing the room that day to get it. We usually leave between $3 and $4 each day. I leave it right on top of the pillows.:)

I leave $5.00 per day. I make up envelopes before we go & fill them with a $5.00 bill & they are all ready when we get there. I leave one out each morning. I guess most people tip $1.00 per person per day. We are 4 people so I just leave $5.00. I usually put it on the sink.

We (er I) make Mousekeeping envies and fill them with tips and then keep them in the safe until each morning. It's just DH and myself so I leave $3. I also place the envie on the sink next to their name placard that is usually in the room when we arrive.

We don't leave a tip. They get PAID to clean your room. They should be thankful they have a job. Do you get tipped to do your job??

No tip from us either. We pay a fortune for those rooms and they do make more than minimum wage.

We tipped $3.00 per day last summer and it was me, dh, dd 12 and ds 2.. but I cleaned up after us and always had the trash bagged up and towels in a pile..etc.

We leave our tip daily. We tip $3 for the two of us.

I put ours in an evelope that had "Thank you" on it and leave it on our pillow.

Mousekeeping is not considered to be a tipped position at WDW. However, if you would like to leave a token of appreciation for a Mousekeeper, I'm sure that any amount would be gladly accepted. We tip $5/day for 4 people and we leave it every day since Mousekeepers can change from day to day.

At other hotels where tipping the housekeeping staff is expected, the norm around here (SE PA) is $1-$2 per person per day.

We tip $3.00 per day for two people

we leave $1 a day for each of us staying in the room, usually $4/day...when we went in april, on our last day, early that mornig, we were getting everything packed up on the cart and the housekeeper was soooo sweet, she came running down the corridor outside just to come in and thank us and hug me :goodvibes and told us to have a safe trip back home

I do not tip either. Mousekeeping is paid more than the CMs at the park and also get bonuses, etc. Also, since it is in their union contract that they are an non-tipped role, they cannot accept tips. If it is done in such a way that the tip cannot be denied (ie: left in the room), it must be reported to their manager. The manager can either allow them to keep it or take it from them and put it in a CM fund used for CM recognition. Failure to report these tips is cause for termination.

I much prefer leaving a small note that can be turned into their manager and placed in their employment file. I also leave a note saying not to bother cleaning the room. Please just leave fresh towels and not to worry about the rest. I have heard that they can leave early and still be paid for their full shift if they are finished with their rooms.

Thanks so much for all of the answers!!!! :goodvibes

I have made up some tip envelopes (that was the fun part hehe) but wasn't sure how much to put in them.

Since there is two of us, I'm thinking $3 a day should be sufficient. We're really not very messy people lol. :)

Thanks for all the feedback!!!!

We usually leave a 1.00 per day per person, so 7.00. Or 4.00 in each room on the sink. I take some cleaning things with me and keep the room pretty clean...but still they do leave us towel animals on occasion...etc.

I do not feel that i need to tip anything in additional to what i am paying. they do get paid more than minimal wage to do their job, i feel that they do a good job but they do nothing exceptional. most of them do not understand enough english if i ask a question or request extra towels or shampoo

$0.00:teacher:

We left 4.00 the first day and the mousekeeper left us 4 really adorable towel animals. The kids got such a kick out of them.
The following day we left 2.00 (that was all the singles we had on us) and my sweet son, said mom I wanna leave the mousekeeper 2.00 also cuz she made us all those animals. I was so proud of him!!!!

I had made envelopes last year for our trip and totally forgot to make them this year. And I really missed them. So I would also suggest making the evelopes or at least bringing some plain white ones.
