How often do they clean the room? We will be staying at Art of Animation in February for a week and we had never stayed onsite before. I am just trying to budget how much we will be spending and just making a rough estimate for the tip side of things. Also, are we supposed to tip the ME driver? How much do most people tip. We want to make some fun envelopes with the girls ahead of time and were just wondering what to include. :]

That's a great idea! (the envelopes)...

I know that if you are bringing your own luggage onto DME then you would want to tip per bag that they are taking...I usually plan $5 per bag...

We do $5 a night for housekeeping, two adults.

We will do $5 total for both pieces of luggage for the ME driver, (same with Airport skycap)

Here is one of the sites I use for tip envelopes. There’s another one I use but I cant find it right now.

To answer you question, mousekeeping cleans your room daily. We always leave a tip every day. Its only two of us, so usually about $4/day.

For ME, if they handle my bags, I will tip them about $4-$5. Again, its just the two of us so usually its one bag.

We also tip $5 per night for Mousekeeping. If you're not bringing your bags onto the DME bus (that is, Disney is delivering them to your room later), many people will tip the driver about $3. It's not a requirement, but we think it's a good thing to do. Remember, that you may have different mousekeepers throughout your stay...so it's better to leave a daily tip envelope, rather than one the day you leave.

That's a great suggestion! WOW... I know that that happens, but it did not register to me to do this...

Mousekeeping will clean every day (for non DVC rooms) unless you tell them not to. I'm both lazy and uncrafty so I just bought some pastel envelopes and maybe have my kids decorate them on the plane to give them something to do. I also bought a pack of Thank You cards from the dollar store that I might use.

I've always tipped DME drivers, especially since they save me from having to crawl under the bus to dig our luggage out. :)

We typically leave $1 per person per day for mouse keeping and for ME we will do 1$-$2 per bag that the driver has to retrieve underneath the motor coach for us.

Please be aware there have been many reports on these boards that housekeeping doesn't always take tips that are in envelopes...only if the money is out and clearly marked for them (I believe it's a "CYA" for them to not take it if it's in an envelope).

If it's not in a envelope, how do you make it "clearly marked?" We always put $5 per night in an envelope addressed to Housekeeping in large print and never has it not been taken.

We tip housekeeping $1 per guest per night. We don't tip magical express since we don't bring our suitcases on the bus and keep our carry ons with us (not under bus).

This is what we do also. If I forget the envelopes for the mousekeepers I just take a piece of paper, wrap it around the money and write on it. That way it is designated for the mousekeeper but the money clearly shows also.

For ME drivers, we give $5/each way. For a Mousekeeping, we do $5/day for our family of four. We also make cute envelopes, and we always leave them under the little name tag telling you who your Mousekeeper is. We've never had a problem with them taking it. :goodvibes

We always tip the me driver $2 ea way, there's only two of us and we don't have bags. Mouse keeping we usually leave $2-4 ea day depending on how good they are.

When I leave a tip for housekeeping, it's usually $1-2 pp, each day. I leave it with a piece of paper around it....with 'thanks' and 'gracias' on it, with some cute Mickey heads. I leave it on the vanity.

For the DME drivers...it depends. There is no official need to tip them if you have no bags stored beneath the bus...checked or carry on. If you do have bags, then you should plan on tipping $1-2 per bag. BUT.....there have been occasions when I have tipped a driver $5 even though I had no bags stored. He was a terrific driver. He kept us entertained with interesting tidbits about the area and such. He went the extra mile in making our trip nicer. On the other hand...I have had a large carry on bag stored beneath the bus. The driver didn't get a tip from me though. Why? He kept us on the bus until he had unloaded the bags....which led to a longer time on the bus. And then..the worst thing...he never welcomed me to the bus, he didn't say a word once we were on the bus. He announced each resort as we approached and also let us know that gratuities were gratefully accepted...even though there is signage to that effect right above his head, at the bus door! Never said anything other than that as we got off the bus!!! I put that $5 bill back into my pocket as I got off that bus!!!

We are a family of 4, and I usually leave mousekeeping $5.00 per day. I sometimes put it in an envelope, and sometimes not. I usually put it under the little card with the mousekeepers name on it so they know it's for them to take.

We do also tip the ME driver. Each of us always has a carry-on stored beneath the bus, and up until this last year a stroller, too. On our trip this past January... our driver got an extra nice tip, although not completely intentional. I meant to give him a $5.00, but it wasn't until after we had checked in at POFQ and I started organizing that I realized I had given the ME driver a $50.00. Once the initial  passed by me... I figured I probably totally made his day, and I've definitely spent $50.00 in worse ways!!!

Haha whoops! You certainly made his day!!!! :]

So it sounds like 5 per night we stay for mouse keeping. We will make a separate envelope for each day.

For ME will have carry on bags and a stroller so I will tip 2 for each item. Thanks everyone! :] eekkkkk I can't wait to go!

Ha that's such a great way to look at it :)

Not to mention that Disney housekeeping is officially a nontippable position (though not as seriously nontippable like other cm positions...housekeepers aren't going to lose a job over it) so especially new ones are probably confused by it. Especially when called mouseekeepers on notes/envelopes since that's not their position title.
