I normally tip $2 a day when I stay at a Disney resort (two adults) and maybe and addition $2-$3 dollars on the last day.

I'll be staying DVC for 8 days meaning my room will be cleaned twice (4th and 8th day)....Does $5 each cleaning sound about right?

Please do not comment on whether tipping is necessary or not. We can all decide that matter for ourselves. :flower3:

Do whatever you feel is right. My wife and I always leave a tip (usually $2/day) for housekeeping whenever we travel. We frequently cruise and we alway tip more than the recommended daily tip amounts. We are new to DVC and have yet to stay in a DVC villa. But we will probably tip a little more on our cleaning day, especially if we have a villa with a full kitchen.

I think you decision should be based on the size of the room. If you are in a studio, then you probably want to tip about the same as you would in a similar room. If you are in a 1BR then there's more to clean, so maybe more. If you have used the kitchen, maybe a bit more. A 2BR or GV maybe more.

Remember, one of those days on your list (I think it would be day 8) is trash and towel only, so it isn't a full cleaning.

you will not get 2 full house cleanings
you will get a full service and a trash and towel service

If you want to tip, that's up to you. How much you tip is also up to you. :thumbsup2

It's a studio...for those who wondered.

I am checking out on day 9.

So, it'll be a full service day 4, towels and trash day 8 and then naturally a full cleaning on day 9 for the next guests. Is that right?

JMHO, but for a studio I would do at least $10 on cleaning day and checkout and at least $5 on trash and towel day.
P.S. I am sure that ANY tip will be appreciated by the mousekeepers in recognition of their service. :thumbsup2

Thanks for everyones imput. Seems like I may need to rethink things.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think day 4 is trash/towel and day 8 is full clean?

Strangely enough - we've never stayed more than 7 nights at one place, lol...we usually move at least once for a night or two to try a new place :)

But I think $2-3 sounds pretty standard for trash/towel, higher on the deep clean/leaving day probably...

I typically tip $3 for trash/towel
$10 for a full clean in a 1br unit, $6 in a studio (no kitchen!)

Receiving a "full clean" near the end of the stay is silly. I seem to recall reading here that if we're staying that long in one unit, we can call housekeeping and request alternate days for our towel service and full clean service. Is this true?

If so, What I'd prefer is trash/towel on day 3/4 and a full clean on day 6/7. Leaving on Day 9/10. (I have the days with a slash as the actual day still confuses me and housekeeping will always catch me off guard... is check in day considered day 1?)

For 7 nights or less, there is a trash & towel on day 4. For 8 nights or more, there is a full cleaning on on day 4, trash & towel on day 7.

When there's just 2 of us in a studio, I leave $5.00 for full clean day, in a 1-bedroom, $10.00.

I usually leave the do not disturb sign out on all other days, as we prefer not to have our room disturbed except on full-cleaing days. If we're in a 1-bedroom, we wash our towels and take the trash to the trash room ourselves.
We never stay in a studio for more than 3-4 days anymore, so towels aren't an issue for us.

Not quite. For stays of eight nights or more, full cleaning on day four (check in is day one) and trash and towel service on day eight.

Ahhh... This makes more sense! No need to ask for a switch in the schedule now. You can tell I've never stayed longer than 1 week in a spot. hehe.
