Mousekeeping options

What are the fees for having extra mousekeeping? If you choose it can you order it every other day, or must it be the entire trip? Does anyone here pay extra for this?

You can order it as many days as you want. That being said, I will tell you that we like NOT having mousekeeping! It is no big deal to make our own bed when we get out in the morning, and it is definately nice to not have to worry about anyone roaming around "our place" when we are not around. This is definately a "home" feeling place. If towels are your concern and you absolutely HAVE to have a clean fresh towel for each shower you take, you can throw them in the washer and drier right in your room (assumeing you are in at least a 1 bedroom). Most folks find the lack of housekeeping to be far more of a problem before they join than after.

Interesting, I was wondering if that was the case. I forgot about the w/d for doing towels. I don't like having to worry about having mousekeeping knocking on the door early if I forget the door sign or coming back to the room being cleaned and having to find something else to do until they are done. ALthough I love the vacation feeling of not cleaning up much- but I am the type who cleans out the sink and dishwasher before they come because I feel bad leaving that kind of mess.

I agree with Diane. We prefer to not have housekeeping. It is not a big deal for us to throw the covers up on the bed (or maybe even "make" the bed!), wash the towels, take out our trash, etc. during both our trips last year - May & December - both at OKW, I just let the housekeeper know what I needed (liketissues, toilet paper, etc.) when she came to the door. She brought the items back, I tipped her & we all went on with our day.

In case you do decide you want extra housekeeping services:

Housekeeping Daily Rates
$25 per day requested - Studio/Inn Room
$30 per day requested - One Bedroom
$40 per day requested - Two Bedroom
$60 per day requested - Grand Villa/Three Bedroom
$10 per day requested - Trash & Towel Service (for all room types)

Trash & Towel Service
Empty trash and put new liners in the trashbins
Provide fresh bathroom linens
Replace facial tissues, paper towels and toilet paper
Replenish coffee, cream, sugar and sweeteners
Replenish dishwashing liquid, dishwasher detergent, sponges and laundry detergent as needed

Full Cleaning Service
Provide all Trash & Towel Services
Change the bed linens
Vacuum and dust
Clean the bathroom(s)
Clean the kitchen/kitchenette and wash the dishes


As you can see, the cost varies according to the size of your unit. You may request extra services for as many or as few days as you like. No maximums or minimums to worry about.

P.S. I also actually like not having housekeeping in my room. Seems more like home and definitely more private. But I am one who always thought you had to clean up before the maid came, LOL!

All these comments about it seeming more like home without Mousekeeping service.... When I'm on vacation I DON'T want to feel like I'm at home! Doing dishes and laundry? Ick!

When I'm on vacation I like to be treated like royalty, that's part of why we bought DVC. I'm glad they give folks a choice though, that way everyone can have it the way they want.
