Mousekeeping--Let's encourage WDW to bring it back!

As long as I have towels no need to touch my room. Even before covid I declined housekeeping at every hotel. Just don't see the point. Also not knowing when they come to your room kinda gives me anxiety. So I like my room always being available for me with no interruptions.
You are certainly entitled to this-but you can always opt out of housekeeping. Even before Covid.

I am a small businesses owner struggling in Florida. I have 12 open positions at an average of $20@hour. The average housekeeper at Disney starts at about $10.00 an hour. Currently in the state of Florida unemployment benefits are $275 @ week plus an additional $300@ week from the federal government. Even with 40 hours a week why would anyone take the job?

Like a lot of you have said, I do think the opt-out should be available for people who don't want daily Mousekeeping! The pre-covid 10/day gift card in exchange seemed like a great deal for everyone. But to have my room clean when I come back is so wonderful for me (and lots of moms lol) and the price I'm paying should include that. Walking down halls lined with trash bags and dirty towels is certainly not a hygenic alternative, and I would complain about it even at a cheaper hotel. Here's to hoping the services can return for those who want them!

Well said.

Please keep in mind that everyone is trying to re-staff right now. We are in unprecedented times and the market is flooded with openings. People will be going for the highest paying jobs first and it may take a while to filter down. While reducing staff is a light switch, we are seeing that re-hiring is not.

I'm a mom of a 16 year old and I keep telling them it's a great time to get that first job. Our local IN and Out is starting employees at 17.00 and hour. People are happier when they are working, socializing and being productive. Not sitting on the couch. The repercussions of this are going to be bad.

Yes what you said for sure...

Everytime you have a complaint or question something you get the covid excuse... Which at this point I am so over it...
The whole virus thing is kind of overpowering at times, right? although the precautions are of course necessary...

I don't see any reason other than saving corporate $ for Disney not to bring back daily Mousekeeping. We're paying a premium to be in the bubble, and part of the appeal (for me at least) has always been coming back from a long day at the parks to a room I don't have to straighten up! I just wanted to encourage people to contact WDW and ask them to bring back daily Mousekeeping. If we make some noise about it, maybe WDW will move faster to get services back to normal.

Don't get me started......all other hotel chains are doing cleaning daily, there is no reason for Disney to not clean rooms - we are paying way too much for these rooms - cleaning is only a cost saving plan. And we allow it and keep going, I'm one of the. In addition, no wand/sword at Cinderellas Castle (they can hand you food on a plate but not a free wand to the kids? laughable) Again - cutting corners.
We just got home and I'm a bit frustrated - there is no reason they shouldn't be cleaning rooms, if they can clean tables at restaurants, clean bathrooms at parks, drive buses full of people. It makes no sense.

Yes we need precautions... whats overpowering is the news media and all the fear mongering that they do daily... For the most part I have stopped watching the news... I watch local, and weather and that' about it... Stop watching the news and you will be surprise at how great you feel...

Lucky for you 90% of folks don't watch the news anymore

This was my biggest beef and noted it on the surveys I received after returning home. I don’t go on vacation to bag up towels and trash to put outside the room especially when paying $500+ a night! Then having to call every day to have more towels brought to the room. Don’t know if my comments made any difference but they need to bring daily mouse keeping back! Thing are starting to slowly go back to normal. Businesses are only going to be able to use the COVID excuse for so long.
I have shared similar sentiments in the during and post trip surveys they send for my last few trips.

I did the same. Hope someone is listening, I like coming back to a clean room. I have to make my bed, clean bathrooms, and empty trash at home I do not want to do it on vacation.
I do think it is a staffing problem rather than a cost cutting one though, hopefully with the return of the CP things will improve.

I also love coming back to a clean room with CLEAN FLOORS. Blech. After about the second day, our floors are nasty, and although I can touch up surfaces with wipes, I have no mop or vacuum and it gets disgusting by the end of the week.

Also agree - I'm on vacation, and don't particularly enjoy doing the garbage, towel, coffee restock calls every day; especially at the price we all pay.

And I get the labor shortage issues, but still think the return of Mousekeeping is WAY overdue.

We are currently staying DVC and mousekeeping changed our bedding and cleaned our room on the 4th day. As I was exiting the room, she was stripping (edit, not striping, didn’t have my glasses on) our sheets. I was pleasantly surprised, but thankful for the service by tipping in return.

Due to mandatory security checks, CMs enter rooms everyday. And they don’t always peek in, but walk through the entire room.

Lucky you! We were at BWV from 5/6-14/21 and on day 4 we didn't even get clean towels or trash removal. I had to call for it. Day 8, just towels. The wood floor was so dusty that I could have written on it and there were no cleaning tools in the closet, i.e., a vacuum or broom. We did have a Shark floor mop which didn't work. I was under the impression that we were to receive (8 night stay) full cleaning on day 4 and T&T on day 8. That is the way it had always worked before.

I always hung the do not disturb tag for the length of my stay when those existed, so this is a change that does not impact me in the least. I generally travel solo and have always lived in a house with a well/have had to conserve water so I do not use a new towel everyday, so no need for more towels. I don't drink coffee, and solo I don't use THAT much TP. And then as others mentioned housekeeping always shows up at the most inopportune times. I hope the easy opt out option remains.

I hope they bring it back... and then bring back the ability to skip it for a gift card.

I've also noticed they haven't been knocking on the door so early on checkout days. In fact, we've been able to make it all the way to 11am without anyone having passed by. Wonder if that's due to staffing levels or occupancy where they haven't had to worry about turning the room over so quickly..

well maybe FL is different but here if you are offered a job and refuse, you lose your unemployment so any former housekeeping could be called back and if they refuse and are collecting would be booted off
