Mousekeeping at the BCV

I just wanted to throw this out there and see what others do when they stay at the BCV and get towel and trash service every 3 or 4 days only. With a family of 4 staying in a studio we had filled the tiny trash can we had by the first night with souviner bags, take out containers, misc. By the 2nd night there was popcorn all over the floor. I am not the neatest person but by the time the mousekeeping came, the garbage and towels were piled up. It was downright dirty in the room! We were told that for $30 they would actually clean the room. A little pricey...What do other DVC members do about the mousekeeping (or lack thereof?).

Thanks!

We prefer not having Mousekeeping every day. We take our trash with us on our way out every couple of days. No big deal.

I thought this would be a big sticking point for me when we were thinking about buying DVC. I wrongly assumed that it would really bother me to not have daily housekeeping service, now I sort of enjoy it. Well, OK maybe not enjoy but I've definitely grown accustomed to it. No big deal and I'm certainly not paying for an extra cleaning. YMMV

I'm wondering how it'll work out this time. In the past, we've, of course, dealt with this alone, with adult friends and family members, and with family members including children -- but there with their parents. This will be the first time we're taking the children with us to WDW, staying at DVC, without their parents there. I wonder if we'll have to do anything to have them keep their room tidy. (We, of course, won't care, unless it spills into the living room, or they, brother or sister, have a problem with the other's untidiness.)

I take out my own garbage if it is full or if there is something smelly in there...I run the vacuum if I make a mess (or if DD8 makes the mess, I have her run the vaccum)...I hang up my towels to dry or spring for the extra towel pack on checkin if there is a lot of humidity and I don't think that the towels will dry properly before the next use.
I generally put the garbage outside on trash/towel day and give my dirty towels to the mousekeeper in the hall and get fresh ones before I go out in the morning. I prefer not to have someone in my villa when I am on vacation. Usually unless there is something major on our schedule, I stay back while a full cleaning is ongoing and do my laundry while mousekeeping does their duties.
