We booked a 2 bedroom villa at BLT thru Disney. Will we get daily housekeeping? Or like DVC members, only on day 4? Just trying to plan what to pack and not sure if I should bring lots of detergent for daily loads of towels. Or extra rolls of TP and paper towels.

If you booked directly through Disney and are paying cash, then you will be getting daily mousekeeping.

The only time you won't is if you stay on points through a DVC membership.

Have a great time.

Why is that DVC dont get mousekeeping anyway?? i mean DVC members paid more really then someone that just stays for a week .... I mean thats the LEAST they could do

Because members have to pay for it as part of our yearly dues and it was cost prohibitive. Most timeshares have the same type cleaning schedule as DVC. It doesn't bother me, I prefer knowing no one is going to be in my room on a daily basis.

I have friends who are DVC members and they also told me it doesn't bother them. In fact they don't mind not having someone coming into their room everyday.

DVC is a timeshare; members each own a share of BLT, and as owners, we also pay the operating costs of the resort. That's what the monthly maintenance dues pay for. Housekeeping, real estate taxes, landscaping, utilities, etc.

If all members staying at BLT got daily housekeeping, it would raise members' dues dramatically, and not all members want daily housekeeping anyway. So, the fair thing to do is to give everyone periodic housekeeping, and let those who want to get it more often cover the costs by paying out of pocket for whatever additional cleanings they want.

Luckily, that's not the case, or there'd be no reason for anyone to buy DVC. ;) Compared to what cash guests pay for stays at DVC resorts, members pay far, far less. As a member, my stay at an AKV savannah view studio cost about $95 a night. The rack rate for that room was about $400 per night. Plus tax.

Same with me. I prefer not having them come in at all. All I need is fresh towels & trashbags on Day 4 & Day 8. I prefer they just knock on the door, hand them to me, & leave.

We were at BLT the week of Sept 20th and had booked through a travel agent. We traveled with our daughter/son-in-law and 1 year old granddaughter. The only information in the room stated that we would get mousekeeping on the 4th day, so we had our 'do not disturb' sign on the door. The very nice mousekeeping CM told us that we did have service everyday (which we declined most days -- a lot easier to let our granddaughter keep out her toys). We learned that when the 'do not disturb' is on the door, mousekeeping is not allowed to even knock. Most times we saw the mousekeeping bin, we just asked for more toiletries. The market in the Contemporary also has some items such as regular dish liquid and laundry detergent. However, I took some Bounce dry cleaning packets so not to deal with laundry wash and dry.

The mousekeeping crew changed daily, but the nice CM lady assigned to our room the day before our granddaughter's birthday sent Lucy a balloon bouquet with a Happy Birthday message. All of the CMs were very nice and accommodating to our schedule with a little one.

We're ready to go back!!!

How much extra do u have to pay for your dues to get housekeeping? or is it just out of the question

It's not a matter of paying extra dues, those are set each year and are the same for all owners. If you want extra housekeeping visits during your trip, you arrange for that at the resort. You decide which level of service you want, and pay by the day. You can add as many days of cleaning as you'd like.

Here are the details on housekeeping for DVC point stays:

Trash & Towel Service

For stays of seven or less nights, Trash & Towel Service is provided on day four, regardless of whether you're using Member-discounted cash, Vacation Points or a combination of both.

With Trash & Towel service, Housekeeping will:

* Empty trash and replace liners in trash bins.
* Provide fresh bathroom linens.
* Replace shampoo, facial soap and bath soap.
* Replenish facial tissues, paper towels and toilet paper.
* Replenish coffee, sugar, cream and sweeteners.
* Replenish dishwashing liquid, dishwashing detergent, sponges and laundry detergent as needed in one-, two- and three-bedroom Vacation Homes.

Full Cleaning Service

For stays of eight or more nights, Full-Cleaning Service is provided on day four and Trash & Towel Service is provided on day eight. After that, the cycle begins again on day 12, regardless of whether you're using Member-discounted cash, Vacation Points or a combination of both. With Full-Cleaning service, Housekeeping will provide everything included with the Trash & Towel Service, plus:

* Change the bed linens.
* Vacuum and dust the Vacation Home.
* Clean the bathroom(s).
* Clean the kitchen/kitchenette and wash the dishes.
