MouseFest is an annual gathering of WDW nutjobs like us. It's like a combination family reunion, trade show, and fan convention all in one.
MouseFest consists of two main parts, Sea and Land. The Sea portion is a 4-night cruise on the Disney Wonder, and the Land portion is 4 days at WDW. At last count, there were about 200 people signed up for the Sea portion, and over 1700 signed up for the Land portion.
MouseFest is an a la carte convention; events are all scheduled individually, allowing everyone to attend as many or as few as they choose. Events go from early morning to late night, and are scattered all over WDW property. There is an official park assigned to each day, and most of the days events happen in the official park, but some events do wind up outside the official park.
There are trivia contests, hidden mickey hunts, guided tours with guidebook authors, and plenty of other meets both big and small. Most of them don't require advance registration, but there are a few, like Segway tours and Illuminations cruises, that require advance registration and/or deposit.
The big event of MouseFest is the MegaMouseMeet, held on Saturday (this year on Dec 9) at the Swan or Dolphin. The MegaMeet is set up similar to a trade show; each author, webmaster, podcaster, or business that sponsors MouseFest sets up a table with info on their book, web site, or business, and spends a few wonderful hours meeting fans from all over the world who use their products to plan
Disney vacations. Deb Wills of AllEarsNet and Jen and Dave Marx of the Passporter Guidebook series are the organizers, and other sponsors include Bob Sehlinger of the Unofficial Guide, Lou Mongello of DisneyWorldTrivia, Steve Barret of the Hidden Mickey guidebooks, a team of folks from MousePlanet.com, and a bunch of other webmasters, podcasters, and authors. There are also several Disney-specialized businesses in attendance, including a couple of travel agencies, a towncar company, and a DVC resale company.
This year is the 4th MouseFest; I've been to all 3 previous MouseFests and will be there this year, too. Look for a tall, overweight, goofy-looking guy wearing a Batman-esque utility belt and constantly sticking his camera in peoples' faces - that's me.

And if you happen to be in WDW any time from Dec 6-11 this year, drop by a few meets and introduce yourself.
