Not the fluffy, squeaky type I am very happy to report!

I have gone through three / four different computer mouses (mice?) in the last few months. They all work fine initially but gradually become sluggish and then refuse to work at all.

I have tried cleaning them (which improves performance for a brief spell), fiddling with the wires, all to no avail.

Is it just that they cannot cope with the heavy deman I put on them? ;)

Any suggestions gratefully received as I spent a bit more money than usual on the last one in the hope it would last / work better but it seems to be going downhill daily......

Have you thought about an optical / cordless mouse Karen? I got a Logitech cordless mouse and keyboard pack about a year ago now and it really is the business! The keyboard is still on it's first set of batteries, and the mouse is fully rechargeable - you just plonk it back into the wireless receiver and it keeps it topped up.

You can buy the mouse on it's own I think - it's the MX700 model - and it costs about £40 to £45. Not cheap, but it's a quality product.

Hope this helps :)

Paul

Have you got one with a ball on the bottom(don't no the technical term)

We usually have to take the ball out and give the contact's a good clean.

We have got an optical mouse now, hope its better.

We recently upgraded our computer and it came with a cordless mouse. It really is the business.

Hi Karen

We bought a cordless mouse and found it 'ate' the batteries...We just got a cheap mouse from Asda, I think it was £2 or something like that and that one is still going strong.
I have just got a optical one with my new pc and it seems to be fine, no ball on the bottom to clog up with all the usual stuff.

Go optical Karen! It's the only way. Not necessarily cordless too but certainly optical. Turn your old mouse upside down and slide it across the mousemat to get an idea of what optical feels like.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Thanks for your help guys :)

I had an optical one that stopped working :(
I currently have a cordless from Asda which cost about £8
I also had a logitech cordless (not rechargeable though - or perhaps it was and I didn;t realise  which could be why it stopped working? I'm sure I would have known if it was though :confused3 )

So I am baffled as to why they all keep going wrong! Could it be my PC?

Or have I just had a run of bad luck which is unlikely to repeat itself if I get a new optical / cordless one?

Thanks again, I am a computer duffer :)
