I just saw that Mouse Gear is closing in December for the Epcot construction. Does anyone know if this is just temporary or if they'll relocate to somewhere else within the park? Hate to lose it; it's my favorite store on property.

This message was originally posted on Disney's website, but that page is no longer valid. So...?

As part of the ongoing transformation of Epcot, Mouse Gear will move to a temporary home this winter while its current location is reimagined.

Did you happen to see when in December? or did it just say "December"?

MouseGear will close for a reimagining. It will return but possible with a new name.

Thanks for the info-whew!

December was what...oops, just checked the video again (it was the Disney Food Blog) and it *does* say Winter. I must have imagined the December part. My bad. :o

The store will close and move across to the other building by Electric Umbrella where there is empty space. No word on how long it will take to re-imagine the store, but rumours are that it will keep the name MouseGear but be completely redone.

I think I read Disney executives said they don't want people wasting time in stores shopping when they could be spending family time and will use the area to open up more family friendly space where people can hang out and enjoy each others company without having commercialism being pushed down their throats. I think it was in a paper called the onion.

Ah, The Onion: “America’s finest news source”!

My question is more along the lines of where can we get merchandise during the re-imagining process? MouseGear has a lot of stuff you can't find in world showcase. I mean.... I will have at least a few paychecks come in during that time which I need to just endorse and hand over to the master. I don't want to have to go all the way to Disney Springs.

Merchandise will move to various locations. Temporary locations will also be set up.

Existing Mouse Gear location will be shut down for refurb during Q1 2020, with a temporary location at former Colortopia space, just across the way.
