Can someone refresh my memory about which rides are all or mostly motion simulators and which ones have stationary seats for the motion sick? I'm fine on coasters and Mummy and anything that is real moving but for some reason can't do motion simulators - even closing my eyes doesn't help much. :confused3 I remember at least one ride has some non-moving seats option doesn't it?

Thanks!:)

Jimmy Neutron I think has stationary seats, the same as Shrek...Spiderman could be considered a simulator, though it goes through real sets also

Shrek 4-D, Jimmy Neutron and T:2 (if you want to include it) have stationary seating...just ask the TM and they will help you.

As far as the full on simulators go, The Simpsons is probably the worst if you motion sickness. As Chris stated...Spiderman might be considered a simulator but the ride vehicle actually moves through the sets.

Shrek: 4D show, some simulator elements. Has stationary seating.
Jimmy Neutron: Full Simulator. Has stationary seating
Simpsons Ride: Full Simulator. No stationary seating
Spider-Man: Has simulator elements. No stationary seating.
T2: 3D show, minimal simulator elements. Ask TM for stationary seating, if available.

Thanks! We did Spiderman once before and it didn't get me TOO bad - I wasn't ready to jump back on it but it didn't bother me as much as Star Tours which made me green (and gave me a headache!)

This definitely told me more than the Universal website's ride description!:thumbsup2

I get the exact same way on Star Tours. That being said, I can do Simpsons OK, but YMMV. I don't like the moving seats on Shrek; Spiderman and T:2 are no problem, but AVOID AVOID the motion seats at Jimmy Neutron. They are not getting any better with age. Have fun.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't Spiderman have cars that just move through the scenes and do not actually do the other movements such as going up, down, etc? I would think they would have a car or two that just roll through the scenes for some of the handicapped people, even though their signs say not to ride if you have about any medical condition in the book!

No, as far as I know they don't offer a setting to turn "off" the movement.

I wasn't meaning it as a "setting", I was meaning it as just a stationary car that rolls through the scenes...sort of like the ones they have at Toy Story Mania! at Hollywood Studios...they have a few (or one) car for handicapped people. Not a "setting" that can be chosen...just a vehicle or two designated as handicapped accessible vehicles that are permanently "grounded". Maybe they don't, but for some reason I am thinking this.

As many times as I've ridden Spiderman...I've never seen a stationary car.

No. All the scoops do all the movements--spinning, tilting, etc.

Ah, ok. For some reason I was thinking that. Must be another ride at some other park in this country!

You aren't crazy, the Cat in the Hat ride in IOA used to have a setting they could turn off to stop the spinning but I don't know if they offer that anymore

Is the simpsons ride all inclosed like in star tours? Or is it open like Jimmy Newtron? Or do you sit in cars, like Back to the Future. I cannot do the all inclosed simulators. They will make me want to

It's basically like Back to the Future since it is the ride it replaced....the layout is exactly the same, just with different cars/theming

This was the ONLY ride that I have anxiety attacks thinking about...

I went on right after it first opened...my future hubby loved it...me? not so much....i think my anxiety over motion sickness is actually WORSE than the motion sickness itself....:rotfl2: But that is me in a nutshell!!

hi can anyone compare simpsons and spider man to the old body wars disney ride (it made me so so sick, I missed my ARD for coral 1hr later!!). because of that I have never tried star tours, and can just about get through artic at sea world, but I am glad to get off it. I would like to try simpsons and spiderman, but do not want to ruin a whole day for them

It's about the same as Body Wars was, unless you just had a rough/un-synched ride, which is possible sometimes.

I've had the fortune of never being on Body Wars, just what I know of the ride makes me queasy. Star Tours makes me green and I don't think I will ever do Jimmy Neutron or Shrek 4 ever again unless its a stationary seat. That being said, I can handle Simpsons and Spiderman fine. Try to get the front row for Simpsons, you can start looking around if it starts to affect you. Because there is so much to see, and the fact the car goes into a large space, it doesn't seem so bad to me (And I DID NOT like Back to the Future). Spiderman is a different story- because the vehicle moves forward on a track, it never bothers me. Do not miss this ride.
