We booked a catergory 9 because our TA said that the lower you are, and being in the center should have less movements. My question is, now that we've been upgraded to deck 5, how's the swaying up there? I know it's been asked before but I forgot. The luggage tag is the only thing I need to change to reflect the new cabin number? Your advise and suggestions are appreciated.:wave2:

we have stayed on deck 6 without any problem, and I get very motion sick easily. I actually noticed the movement a bit more the LOWER we went, like decks 3 and 4 for dining/entertainment. Take some bonine just in case, but you should be fine.

we were on deck 6...didn't feel much. felt more at dinner & at the shows, where they were at lower decks, as well.

green apples! our pediatrician mentioned it, and i get sea sick, queasy. our DS2 wasn't quite himself the first night, and i think he was feeling somewhat sea sick, and i was feeling a bit the first night, and had green apples, and was fine. and our DS2 was fine as well! try it, wouldn't hurt. :wave2:

If you already have your documents - you need to change the luggage tags and all of the documents to reflect the new room number.

Congratulations on the Upgrade!

If you're prone to motion sickness and have meds that you take for that (dramamine, bonnie or ginger, etc) start taking the meds a day or so before departure and continue throughout the trip.

Last cruise we were on deck 5 and had no problems. The reason many people have trouble in the restaurants (especially Animators) is because there is not a lot of windows to the outside world (none in Animators) and no fresh air. Those are two of natures cures for motion sickness.

I take the meds everyday I go to Disneyland or WDW. Love rollercoasters and get very motion sick so I'm on the meds. I also get very ill on the small boats that take us snorkeling out in the ocean. So far have NEVER (knock on wood) on the Magic. My mind starts messing with me as soon as I step onboard. After a couple of days I usually forget to take the meds and stop and have not had a problem (except for those aforementioned boats in the ocean).

The stabilizers that the modern cruise liners employ do a great job at making the ride much smoother!!

Last cruise we were on deck 6, had 1 day of rough seas, felt the motion more on deck 3 & 4.

granny smith! i guess it has something to do with the tartness of it? not really sure, but it sure worked for me! and my DS2 as well. of course, he couldn't tell us he was sick or nauseous, or anything, but we knew he wasn't himself, so we assume he was feeling something. so we gave him green apples, and he was fine after that! :wave2:

rsjj--on one of our Carnival Cruises we had a dinner reservation at the supper club (like Palo) and I was really feeling motion and had been lying down most of the afternoon. When we got to the restaurant I started eating and felt a little bit better but not quite myself so I asked our server about how they deal and she told me the same thing to eat a green apple! I laughed it off and never though another thing about it. When we went on DCL 2 years ago the 1st night was rough and I had grabbed an apple at the embarkation lunch so I ate it and instantly felt much better! Of course I still take Bonine but the green apple definitely helped for the short term anyway.

I thought I was the only one ever told that theory! Glad to know I wasn't.

i've been telling anyone & everyone (who'd listen) about those green apples & motion sickness! for me, i prefer it more than medication! again, everyone is different, and they all get various degrees of motion sickness...but it's really good to know! :wave2:
