Motion Sickness...what helps you?

I get mild to moderate motion sickness on some rides (Mission Space Green and Star Tours are the 2 that bother me most), however it's never been bad enough to keep me from riding. Although, I will admit to needing to sit in the shade for a few minutes after MS Green. In the past I have taken a dose of non drowsy dramamine in the mornings and have done fine. But, I think my motion sickness might be getting a little worse with age (what doesn't!? lol). What do you use? Anyone prefer SeaBands?

I use Sea Bands and Zofran (prescription) and I chew ginger gum too!

I use non drowsy Dramamine too. My only other "trick" is to stare at a non moving thing. Like on Star Tours I look at the bottom of the screen or my feet. Takes away a lot of that effect. I'm still not off scot free but it helps.

Sea Bands, Dramamine, & peppermints are what help me

We got prescription patches for our cruise, and they worked great. One of the days, the ship was rocking so much people couldn't walk straight. That day, I also took one Bonine and half a prescription anti-nausea pill and felt fine. I have really, really bad motion sickness, so the OTCs don't help me very much. I avoid simulators and Teacups and that also helps.

YMMV but I take 2 Bonine (available at any store) before I leave the resort in the mornings. I don't experience any drowsiness with Bonine and it lasts me all day.

I use a Relief Band. No drugs. You wear it on your wrist and it uses regular electrical pulses to your nerves which helps keep motion sickness to a minimum. It used to be the only motion sickness remedy approved for pilots. It works great for me. Reduces the motion sickness dramatically and drastically reduces the recovery time if you wear it all day.

Ginger chews (candy). I've also seen on other boards that staying hydrated helps a lot.

SeaBands ( I can't wear them for a long time, even less if it's super hot outside) but they do work. I've had mine for years! MotionEase ( all natural, I buy from Walmart) it's kinda expensive for the amount you get, but you don't need much. You put it behind your ears. It's a liquid. I do shop at Super Target, but I've never seen it there, only at Walmart.
*For Star Tours, I sit in the back. Middle seat, if I can swing it. I hold on to the arm rests so I don't get thrown around. I know that sounds weird, but it helps. I've taken Bonine before and it worked. I've never taken it when in Disney because I'm afraid it will make me sleepy. ( I don't think it does make you sleepy, just didn't want to chance it at Disney, as I am sensitive to medications) However, for our trip in June we are going to Universal for the first time and I'll be taking everything I mentioned!! The only rides at Disney I avoid are: Teacups, MS. Peppermint, ginger ale, ginger chews, they all work too I just don't make it habit to carry that with me all the time ( and I don't like ginger much :) ) hope this helps!

I too can't do MS Green, you aren't alone. Star Tours used to do it to me, but I found out that it was really the shooting stars transition scenes that were the trigger. Everything else was ok. So when the stars are about to come up I look down. I also take 2 Bonine which I found works better then Dramamine for me. I do have the patches, but I save those for heftier rides now since I figured out the trick for Star Tours.

I take bonine, starting the night before I need it. I take it again in the morning and at night. I have found taking it the night before I need it is key. I also carry ginger candy.

Posted on the other motion sickness thread but will do it here too - anywhere in DW you can purchase Bonine? Because we arrive from overseas so late, getting to an offsite shop isn't an option...

While it was expensive, it worked wonders...got my spouse, who just couldn't ride anything comfortably because of motion sickness, one of those wrist bands that emits slight shocks on a periodic basis. Found it on a pilot's web site. We came down for the early opening of EE and she rode multiple times with no ill effects. Finally she claimed she felt fine and didn't need the "watch " so she took it off...at which point it took all of thirty seconds for her to turn a terrible shade of green. She couldn't get it back on her wrist fast enough. Also helped a friend's wife with vertigo. Just a suggestion...

I use Motioneaze. You dab a little onto the back of your ears. DD went sailing on a tallship for 5 nights, and Motioneaze was what worked for her as well.
