Motion Sickness & Rides??

I have wicked motion sickness. I can't even swing on a swingset without getting sick to my stomach. Of your list I've only done Dinosaur and BTMRR. I'm fine on both. Mind you I might not be able to do BTMRR 3 times in a row and it's better during the day but I've tolerated it well enough it's one of the few "thrill" rides I can go on with my son. Dinosaur I have zero motion sickness on. It is very jarring and bothered my neck the first time, but it didn't bother my stomach at all.

I have used Bonine here and there. It's non-drowsy which is why I prefer it to Dramamine and it's once a day. It doesn't 100% take away the nausea for me but it takes the edge off.

Thanks all, that helps. Im def. Skipping space mtn. And mission space. The other 3, will probably pick 2.
I did make it thru forbidden journey, with eye s closed probably 90% of the ride, lol. I felt like i might hurl while on it, but fine once i got off thankfully.
Is bonine better than dramamine or are they pretty similar?

For me, even the non-drowsy Dramamine makes me sleepy but I have zero sleepiness or loss of energy with Bonine. Maybe try each of them out before your trip and just go with what works best for you.

My husband has motion sickness and he does fine on all of big the coasters except for Space Mountain. It's rough and jerky that he has problems with it. Mission Space Green was too much for him even without the spinning. Dinosaur also had him feeling pretty queasy and the other one that tends to bother him a bit is Star Tours. He can usually ride it once, but he can't handle multiple rides. On our recent trip we felt that sitting towards the back and on the end seats in Star Tours seemed to lessen the intensity of the ride. You can also look at the small screen on the right side or at C3PO if it's overwhelming and that helps, too.

Green side of Mission Space ruined a Disney day for me. Couple of other big NOs are teacups and Star Tours. Always feel a bit weird on Soarin, but it is manageable.

BONINE is the answer.
That said, I have not had the courage to do Mission Space Green. I rode what is now Orange the first year it was open and I had to sit on the bench for 30 minutes before I could even walk to the gift shop.
I have no problem with space mountain. Since I close my eyes on roller coasters, being in the dark is fine with me. However, I cannot do Rocking Roller Coaster. Everest is fine until it goes backward. I have NEVER done the circle rides. DUMBO makes my knees shake just thinking of it. And I consider the carrousel a thrill ride. Big Thunder I can do once a trip.
My husband wont do Dinosaur because he blanks out with the strobe lights and has no memory of the ride once we get off. He can do Indiana Jones at Disneyland with no problems and its the same vehicles and track.
Other than mission space the worst motion sickness I got was the Virtual Reality stuff at Disney Quest. I thought I was going to barf on the magic carpet.

I have motion sickness issues. I used to do Dramamine but hate the drowsy feeling, even with the less drowsy formula. I use ginger capsules, found with vitamins in most stores that have a vitamin section. One or two, about 1/2 to an hour before the need, and I'm good for quite awhile. No drowsy or 'drugged' feeling. I find it's best to take it with a little food in your stomach.

I suffer from motion sickness on anything that spins (even merry go round), and some of those virtual motion rides (forget what they're called - where they have the movie screen) but for those I just close my eyes when I start to feel dizzy and I'm fine. (I made it through Forbidden Journey at IoA. Lots of closed eyes though, lol).
On our upcoming trip, DH is not coming, and he's the designated companion for ODS on all questionable rides. ODS *LOVES* those kinds of rides, they are his favorite. So I'm trying to decide if there's any that I can manage, without getting sick for the rest of the day. He won't go on them by himself and I don't want him to miss out on all of them. I'm ok on roller coasters (as long as they don't go upside down 100 times, once is probably my limit) as they're usually over pretty quick, any longer than 3-4 minutes, I'm sure I couldn't do it. I'm OK on Soarin (I close my eyes part of the time), I'm fine on Expedition Everest and Splash......I was ok on Test Track and 7DMT................the ones I am questioning are:

Big Thunder Mountain
Space Mountain
Dinosaur
Rock n Roller Coaster
Mission Space - I can probably do the Green?

If I am the lone adult and my presence is needed on a ride, I have to avoid the rides that give me trouble. Typically that is tea cups, Everest, and space mountain. Don't know if I have done Mission Space green, but orange is definitely out.

Dramamine can be your friend though. One of my children has to take it (wonky vestibular system) and she is able to ride all rides of her choice without issue.

I will definitely get sick on the plane ride to Florida, and I can get sick on the bus ride to the park if it's too long. With motion sickness, you really have to understand what's happening. Some kinds are the result of a disconnect between the eyes and the ears. On a plane, for instance, the ears say, "We're moving!" and the eyes say "We're not!". The reason you feel better when you shut your eyes on the screen rides? You stop the disconnect. Your ears say you're moving a little bit and your eyes can't disagree. FWIW, I can't do Soarin' either. Remember the Body Wars ride in Epcot? For me it was the Body Barf ride. I think the issue with spinning and going backwards is all ear. I didn't have any of that until my mid to late 40s. My husband has always had that. He can't even to kiddie rides that go in circles, but roller coasters? No problem unless they go backwards. We're quite the pair.

Over the counter drugs have never worked for me. Dramamine makes me super loopy all day and the non-drowsy does nothing. So, what I'm going to recommend is to see your doctor for a prescription for a Transderm Scop patch. Put it behind your ear, and it's good for 3 days. Cover your flights, transportation, and attractions!

Hmm, I wonder if the Transderm patch is what they gave me after my gallbladder surgery. I get horrible nausea from anesthesia and they gave me Zofran in my IV, didn't work, then an antihistamine that made it worse. Then they gave me Reglan in my IV and a patch behind my ear and one of them finally worked and made it go away. I'm going to ask my doctor about it, thanks!
