For those who are prone to mild motion sickness, is this an issue on Soarin'? My son and I both get headaches and semi-nauseous if we read in the car. I'm wondering how we will do on Soarin'. Any advice?

Thanks!

Yes I did - it was 8 years ago, but I still remember the feeling of queasiness as we "flew" over the open sea; I had to close my eyes thru most of the film - maybe I'm just extra sensitive, but I also get a bit of motion sickness on the "green" side of Mission Space (that's the side WITHOUT, right?!) and Toy Story Mania

I have very bad motion sickness on planes and boats but Soarin has never made me sick!

I get horrible motion sickness (cars, boats) but I do ok on it. I've had points where I felt queasy as well, but I just shut my eyes and count until the next scene and the change of scene usually helps.

Anyone with motion sickness have success with the bands or patches on rides?

I have motion sickness issues. Can't read or do things like that in the car. I also have issues with Mission Space and Star Tours. Never had a problem on Soarin' though. I haven't tried a band or patch, but I did have good luck taking non-drowsy Dramamine on the days when we were going to parks where I thought there might be an issue.

I do not have a problem on soarin I have take. Some meds but never needed them for soarin

I take a Bonine daily at Disney because I'm prone to severe motion sickness. With Bonine I still have mild bouts of nausea on several rides. I'm completely fine on Soarin' though with the meds. And I get sick even when watching IMAX movies.

I'm nervous to try it without medication but my guess is that it would only be mild nausea if at all.

My wife is prone to motion sickness but has no problem at all with Soarin

I have issues with motion sickness, and Soarin is no exception. I have started wearing the patch and it helps quite a bit.

I am the same with getting car sick and feeling nauseous after riding most rides at Hollywood Studios. I usually take non-drowsy Dramamine before days at Hollywood Studios and at Animal Kingdom for Everest but do just fine with Soarin!

There is only one scene that bothers me so I close my eyes during it.

One thing that helps with Soarin' as opposed to IMAX is that you actually are moving in synch with the image on the screen - a lot of motion sickness is caused by a disconnect between what you are seeing and the actual motion you are having. For example, I do get motion sickness when watching some of those 3-D movies that simulate a roller coaster, but do not get motion sickness on an actual roller coaster. That's why they always tell sea sick people to go up on deck and look at the ocean - if you are rolling around in your cabin, but the visual perception is that nothing is moving (because your cabin walls and furniture all appear to be stationary), that causes the disconnect. It's why some people can't read in the car (the insides of the car are all fixed relative to each other no matter how fast you are actually going) but feel fine looking out the window in a car.
Of course, I get that some people are more sensitive than others, so your mileage may vary.

I get motion sickness, so when we go to WDW, I get a prescription for Scop patches from my doctor. They work great, but they will really dry you out, lol.

I get motion sickness - boats are the worst, and I must sit in the front seat of a car. I can't do motion-simulator type rides (like Star Tours). That said, Soarin' is my favorite ride at WDW and I've never experienced motion sickness issues while riding.

My son and I have motion sickness, but never a problem on soaring. My son was having trouble with the buses with all the stopping and starting so he wore the bands and that took care of it.

If it gets bad, I close my eyes or look at the wall. It kind of defeats the purpose of the ride, but it allows me to enjoy my kids' experience on the ride. I can handle most of it, even with my mild motion sickness.

I get motion sickness on boats and planes (and cars when I read) but not on spinny rides or rollercoasters. Soarin does tend to make me slightly queasy but nothing too serious. It passes quickly.

i get motion sick in cars, on boats, watching FPS style video games.. even minecraft and portal make me very ill. never had a problem with soarin but to be fair, it's a short exposure. soarin is only 5 minutes.
