My family uses the Non-Drowsy Dramamine and it has worked good for us. DD10 gets car sick and always has. We would be lost without it. I get the occasional sickness, especially on roller coasters, so I will take one before we go to an amusement park or disney and I know I am gonna be riding some of the rides. It has helped.
Like the other posters have said. I never never never try to read anything while in a car. I would puke for sure if I did!
I have taken Meclizine but it has been several years ago, and it was before they made it over the counter. I had a case of vertigo and my dr prescribed it for me. It made me sleepy, bad. It could have been stronger than the OTC stuff now though, I'm not sure.
I would suggest whatever you get that you take one a couple days before your trip just to see how it effects you, just in case. Good luck, and have fun!
