I just had dinner with a local DVC'r and he told me that the A/C at the BCV is on a motion sensor. If you aren't moving in the room the A/C shut's off. When you come back in the room during the afternoon the room is hot. He said he hasn't stayed at BCV in couple of years, but to be careful.

Is this true? Has anyone experienced this. The othe DVC'r told me that when he contacted the front desk they said that the motion sensors are there to cut costs and that if he tied a balloon in the room it might help.

Just checking and wondering if I should move my July ressie!

There is a way to override the motion sensors, someone posted instructions in another thread although I'm not sure exactly where it is.

Although I've heard of this at BCV, I haven't experienced it there. However, I did experience this at BWV. My room was very hot when I first returned at the end of the day. Fortunately, I've never been woken up at night, though.

We have experienced this at SSR. Next time I go, I'm going to try the bypass trick. If that doesn't work, I will call maintenance. I hate waking up in the middle of the night all hot and sweaty.

I just got back from SSR. We all kept waking up at night because it was stuffy. I kept fiddling with the AC trying to get it to turn on. It ended being this constant back and forth of too hot then too cold. I had no idea there was a motion sensor. I just thought the stupid thing was broken. I suppose I should have called the front desk but by the time we all woke up everything would be fine again and I'd forget. I guess I'm easily distracted when I'm at WDW...

Here is the proper way to bypass the thermostat

TO CHANGE AC THERMOSTAT SETTINGS THE THERMOSTAT HAS TO BE PUT INTO "SERVICE MODE" IT IS SIMPLE TO DO BY PRESSING THE FOLLOWING KEYS ON THE FRONT OF THE THERMOSTAT.

EXECUTE THE FOLLOWING SEQUENCE:

1. PRESS (AND KEEP PRESSED) THE F/C KEY

2. PRESS (AND RELEASE) THE OFF/AUTO KEY

3. PRESS (AND RELEASE) THE DISPLAY KEY.

4. RELEASE THE F/C KEY.

UPON SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING THIS SEQUENCE, THE LCD WILL DISPLAY PAR (PARAMETER) AND THE PARAMETER NUMBER.

1. PRESS THE UP ARROW KEY AND SCROLL UNTIL # 6 APPEARS. (NEW MODELS # 24)

2. PRESS THE OFF/AUTO KEY

3. THE CURRENT LOW TEMPERATURE IS DISPLAYED.

4. PRESS THE DOWN ARROW KEY AND SCROLL UNTIL THE DESIRED ROOM TEMPERATURE APPEARS

5. PRESS THE F/C KEY

Is this post for real or a joke? :confused3 The other instructions on here had far less steps. I think I'll be calling maintenance on this one.

LOL Me too! I got a :headache: just reading this. There is no way I will ever be able to remember (or comprehend for that matter) these instructions. If the quickie method doesn't work it looks like I'll just be hot and sweaty! Oh well, that's what you get for a quickie ;) .

This seems to only address the lowest temperature. How about shutting off the sensor so that it stays cool all night?

That will bypass the sensor totally and make it work like a normal thermostat. the other method listed with holding down the button will only last for a short period of time or until the front door is opened. the ac system also has a sensor tied into the front door.
