I know it is early to ask but was just wondering whether anyone attended this special and first offering with the heros? Did anyone ask whether Disney was going to include this as a regular character meal down the road? We are not going until Nov. but have a 6 yr old son who I am sure would love to experience this, as he will have to put up with his sister's princess character lunch.

Any comments, please. :earboy2:

Just got back yesterday. We went to Mother's Day Brunch on Saturday at Epcot - BY FAR our favorite meal!!!!! I almost canceled this one, but kept it, and I'm sure glad I did. And our timing could not have been better.

12:15 reservation (Yes, reservation, not PS)

Fairy Godmother greeted us outside. When we entered the pavillion, Prince Eric, Prince Charming and Hercules were wandering around, talking and doing autographs/pictures with everyone. It was kind of weird - and great - at the same time. Usually there are lines for meeting the characters, but they were just walking around chatting! This was all in the entry area, before getting seated.

Then Beast, Peter Pan, Aladdin and Mickey came out. When they came out, definite lines were formed to see them. Not that these lines were long, though. The other 4 characters "dissappeared" and we never saw them again.

We went in for the brunch - the best food we had at WDW. The atmosphere was SO calm, relaxing, wonderful.

When we left, Beast, Peter Pan, Mickey and Aladdin were still there.

I have no idea how it went sunday (Mother's Day). I'm sure it was great. Do not pass up this opportunity if you are ever there on Mother's Day. I wonder if they have something for Father's Day?...

Let me know if you have any specific questions. Mary

Thanks for the review. Where was this held, which restaurant?? What were the food offerings???

Wow, I'd love to see Beast at a character meal  I hope they make this a permanent thing! I'm glad you had a great time! :)

We went to the brunch on Sunday. Our reservation was at 10 AM. No fairy godmother outside. Only the Princes were there when we were.

The food was great and there was a large selection. It was held in the former Millenium village building.

We will be going back next year for this brunch. There was a menu on Allears but the site isn't working right now for me.

I tried to get the menu from there, but now cannot find it anymore. Anyway, I got one of the menus at the lunch, so here is what we had:

zucchini & banana nut breads
fresh brioche rolls
assorted doughnuts
miniature chocolate & butter croissants
muffins & danish
assorted bagels w/ various cream cheeses
seasonal fresh fruit/berries with citrus sauce

Eggs with assorted fillings for omeletes
scrambled eggs with cheese & chives
oven browned potatoes w/onions & peppers
bacon, sausage links
belgium waffles and banana-stuffed croissants w/syrup

Hot & Cold Cereals:
oatmeal, cream of wheat w/ assorted toppings
bananas and fresh strawberries, blueberries, raisins, brown sugar
various cold cereals with various milks

Salads:
southwestern caesar salad w/sweet hot chili croutons
field greens w/assorted dressings
cherry tomato & mozzarella salad w/basil vinaigrette
herb roasted veggie & penne pasta salad
antipasta salad

Kids Buffet: (anybody could eat anything, though)
carrot & celery sticks w/ranch dressing
chicken strips w/ketchup and bbq sauce
tater tots
macaroni & cheese
buttered corn
pizza pillows
mini corn dogs

Desserts:
sacher torte and chambord torte
cappuccino soaked chocolate cake
stemware glasses filled w/tiramisu and english berry trifle
freshly baked apple pie
brownies
giant homemade cookies

The atmosphere was beautiful, peaceful.

This was NOT a regular character-type meal. The heros were in the lobby waiting area - they did not come to any tables. You only mingled with them before or after your meal. I actually liked that because you could get it done, and not have to stop eating every 5 minutes to get the autographs/photos, or worry about being away from your table! GREAT!!!!

Of course, we really hit the lucky time, getting to see 8 characters instead of 4: Fairy Godmother, Prince Charming, Prince Eric, Hercules, then Mickey, Aladdin, Peter Pan and Beast. Besides Beast (because he could not talk or sign autographs), they each spend quite a bit of time with each person - especially Peter Pan - he really liked to talk. They were all very sweet with the kids.

Mary...was it busy while you were there? I'm sure that they will be using that as part of the determining factor wheter or not they make it a permanent thing. I sure am hoping that a lot of people booked it, went and enjoyed it! I hope against all hope that they do make it permanent and do so before we go in June! The only thing that I would prefer is that they would offer it at MGM instead of Epcot. MGM is in desperate need of a charater meal since they discontinued the one with Minnie, Pluto and Goofy at Hollywood and Vine. With that said...it doesn't really matter where they put it, we will book it and we will go! My Son would be ever so excited to be able to go see the hero's...not just the princesses!

It was full when we went yesterday at 10. If there were going to have a character hero breakfast I don't think the location used for the Mothers Day brunch would be used. The place is huge. I don't think they could fill the place on an ongoing basis to make it worthwhile for Disney.

Sounds like this was a lot of fun. I hope they include it as one of the character meals somewhere. MGM does not have a character meal so maybe they should consider having it there. :)

Honestly, that is hard for me to answer since it was my first trip and I have nothing to compare it to. BUT - our reservation was at 12:15 and we were seated around 12:45. Lots of families were waiting, and the dining area was HUGE. It was in a giant pavillion between UK and Canada. I have no idea how many tables it held, but there were lots of them. (Bigger than any of the restaurants we ate in) I'd say most of the tables were filled. Again, I went on Saturday - not actual Mother's Day. So, Sunday was probably way more busy. They had several stations for the buffets (I got kind of lost). With 2-3 carving stations, 2 dessert stations, 2 salad stations, etc. Each station had the same items, they were just all spread out since the place was so big.

About regular character meal. I personally think that MGM would be best for one with characters like Buzz, Woody, Incredibles, etc. AND have one with Princes at MK or Epcot. Just my 2 cents...

As the mom of all boys, I really wish Disney would do something for boys the way the have quite a few meals for girls. There is a petition at petitiononline.com for boys character meals. I'd insert the link, but I don't have the exact one. PLEASE go and sign it if you want a boys character meal. If enough people do it, Disney might take at least some notice.

Thank you for the petition information! I am going to go and sign right now! By the way...the link is: http://www.petitiononline.com/wdw92904/petition.html

During our trip, last month. A manager at Akershus, was telling us that they are thinking of trying a Hero's meal. I said, that I had read they are doing it for Mother's Day brunch. She informed me that No- They haven't decided anything yet.

Kind of made me chuckle. Another bit of info, that I knew more about, from the Dis. I do hope they make it permanent. I have girls, but they think it's a great idea too!!

I just signed the Petition as #22 - it really needs your signature.

#22?!?! That's pretty good then...I was #15 earlier today around 1 P.M. I also posted the link on DWT. Hopefully some of my friends over there have went to it also! Keep it up everyone. It may or may not help, but it's worth a try!
