When I was first married 20 years ago my dh never bought me a mother's day gift. When I asked him why he said, (with a straight face), "You're not my mother you're my wife."

Needless to say he changed his POV a couple of years later but I am wondering why there isn't a WIFE's Day. :teeth: I think we deserve a special day all of our own especally since there is grandparents day and secretary day.
Goodness gracious there are so many special days that I can't even remember them all.

What do you all think?

Isn't that what your anniversary is for?

I agree, Anniversary and Valentines covers that!

On Mothers Day I celebrate Pet Mothers Day. Those without human children deserve some credit for keeping one less animal off the streets by our animal adoptions. Therefore I buy myself a present. I am sure my cats would buy me something if they could!

As for Wife's Day - the end of April through Mother's Day is an embarassment of riches for me - it's my anniversary, my birthday and then mother's day. :teeth: No complaints here!

DH always gets me a card thanking me for being the mother of his children. I think that's a nice thought. And he's the brains behind the kids' gifts and cards to me of course.

I'm probably just selfish. :rotfl2:

I think of anniversaries as a day that we celebrate because we got through the whole wedding ordeal. :rotfl2: J/K Yes, our wedding was fun but the planning and the event was stressful just due to logistics and trying to please everyone.

My birthday is on Valentines Day and usually just combined both. Maybe thats why I was wondering about Wife's Day.

Thanks for the replies.

I also think for everyone who picks up a stray off the road, adopts a pet or does anything for the welfare of animals deserves not only Mother's Day but a special place in heaven.

Nah, we don't need another special day, it would get kind of silly after awhile if there are too many special days. I only really acknowledge a couple of them anyway.

This does remind me though when I was a kid I would complain to my mom about a similar thing. I told her it wasn't fair that there was a special day for mothers, fathers, grandparents, etc. and there wasn't one for kids; I wanted there to be a Kid's Day. She just laughed mockingly and said, "Honey, EVERY day is Kid's Day!" Oooh that made me mad! :teeth:

I though everyday was supposed to be Wife's day. :confused3 At least that is what I have tried to get DH to believe. (Not sure he is buying it though  )

And I thought I didn't have too much left to learn. :teeth: I applaud you :worship: ,and if it starts working around your house please tell all!!

It's so funny you posted this! Just this morning, DH asked me if he was supposed to buy me something for M-day, even though we have no kids! He's so sweet, but I told him "no", it's for Mom's only, he can appreciate me on my birthday! :)

I never expected anything from my DH before we had kids.... but I was disappointed that when the kids were younger he never made a big effort to make sure that they had something to give me. I remember one year when DD was about 3.... he finally bought me a card at about 3pm ON MOTHER'S DAY!! Better late than never I suppose. The kids are 10 and 8 now and they are great about it on their own!.......P

IMHO days like Mother's Day, Valentine Day, Secretary Day,etc are totally superfluous. One should be nice to his/her mother, SO, secretary, etc the whole year. Those 'special' days are just a convenient way for the gift/greeting card/floral/treat industry to get our money :confused3
