Motherhood is tough work (a vent!).

I spent Friday evening in the Emergency Room with my son.

He was playing down the block with his friends. I was just about to start dinner, and he came in and asked me to look at a boo-boo he'd gotten.

Because he seemed so calm, I expected to see a skinned knee or elbow. He lifted his hand from his forehead, and there was a gigantic (I mean huge!) goose egg. I gasped (bad Mommy!), and he started to cry.

On went my shoes and off to the ER we went. Turned out that he was goofing around with a baseball bat. He struck a tree, and the bat bounced back and clocked him in the forehead.

Anyway, he's O.K. The ER termed it a minor head injury. They told me that internal bleeding has nowhere to go in one's head--there is little flesh between the skin and the skull, so that's why it turns into a goose egg.

Last night (Sunday), as I was putting him to bed, he complained that he was hungry. He'd had a good dinner not long before, but insisted his stomach hurt because he didn't have enough to eat.

So I let him come downstairs and finish the bagel and cream cheese he didn't finish at breakfast.

At 2:00 a.m., he appeared in my room, standing over my bed.

"Mommy, I don't feel so good..." and splat, he started vomitting like crazy. All over me, my bed, my hair, the floor, etc. I ran him into the bathroom as quickly as I could, but it made a horrible mess.

He seems perfectly fine this morning. Ate a big breakfast of pancakes and sausages (am I crazy?).

I'm doing a lot of laundry. Linens, the bathroom mats, pajamas, etc.

And how was your weekend?

 Glad your guy is okay. Sounds like you had quite a weekend.

If it makes you feel any better, I have a slight cold and was woken up Sunday morning around 7 am by Monty Dog, who never gets sick, throwing up on my pillow  :crazy2: :faint:

JerseyJanice,
Nothing like weekends like these to make your hair turn grey! Motherhood is tough work, but it sounds as if you are taking it all in stride...hang in there!

Sounds like you had quite the weekend! Glad to hear your son is going to be okay! Amazing how quickly the bounce back from things! Here's hoping that breakfast stays down!

I have been very blessed that Dd 3 who was a preemie has only ever been sick once. Of course that was while DH was away on business. LOL! He was sick too. At least I only had one baby to take care of.

Motherhood is definitely work. Hard work at that, too! But I wouldn't trade jobs for a minute!

Weekend. See post about what MIL wrote! Let's just say it could have been better. I would rather be doing your laundry right now!
;)

That's what I was going to say. Keep an eye on him!

Just about a week ago, my son was up late talking about a tummy ache. I was just snuggling him in the rocking chair and all of a sudden...blech! Puke all over! Me, him, the chair, the floor, the blanket... etc. LOL. He felt great after! Dinner must not have sat well.

It's so hard to see our kids not feeling well. I always wish I could take the pain for him. :(

Glad to hear he's feeling better, but still keep an eye on him.

Oh JJ, what a weekend! Im so glad he is all right now though, especially that head...OUCH!

Ouch! Poor baby!

I would call the Dr. about the vomiting just to see what they say (which will probably be to just watch him)

Hope he heals soon!!!

Janice...I sent you a PM....but I agree....please call your Dr. or the ER to notify them of the vomiting.

I hope he feels better soon!:teeth:

I was worried about the vomitting being connected to the bump on his head too, so I called his pediatrician's office this morning.

The doctor said that because the vomitting happened more than 48 hours from when he bumped his head and because he was nauseous so many hours before he actually threw up, it's very unlikely there's any connection.

Also, DS doesn't have any other symptoms to worry about--his vision and mental state are fine. He's walking and talking the way he always does.

EX, not only did my human child cause me angst this weekend, my canine one did as well.

We were at a family party for a long time on Saturday. I felt sorry for Maxi-dog being alone for all that time, so I let him sleep with us that night.

The beast, however, was not content to lie on the bottom of the bed though. He had to snuggle next to me and kept me half off the bed all night.

I woke up with the worst stiff neck of my life yesterday. I kept a heating pad on it for a while; that made it better, but OUCH! It was brutally painful most of yesterday.

I don't have children. I am an aunt of 12-7 nephews and 5 nieces.

I have always had great respect for parents! It is the hardest job in the world. And after hearing about your weekend, I know you agree....

I took care of two of my nieces last week--a 2 year old and a 5 year old while their parents went out of town for a few days. And boy was that hard! The 2 year old put everything in her mouth, loves to play with toilet paper, and makes a mess out of everything. The 5 year old was helpful, but she's got the memory of an elephant--if I promised something on Tuesday, I had to follow thru by Wednesday or else. But I also had a great time. They are generous with hugs, kisses and they say "I love you!" alot. So I guess in the end, it was all worth it!
