Mother vent - Am I crazy for being miffed at this?

Anyone who expects a meal cooked from scratch at my house will be cooking it themselves. I simply don't do that. I would be rubbed the wrong way too but my mom would never talk to me that way.

I would have said, "No, we weren't JUST having pizza. I bought a TON of beer and twinkies." :lmao:

Rude, rude. I would be delighted to fix people dinner, when I have prepared to do such a thing. HOWEVER- for someone, especially my mom, to announce she's coming over and demand a homecooked meal? Well, my mom knows how far she'd get with that one... And to imply that because you're a SAHM you have nothing better to do than whip up homecooked meals for unannounced and uninvited guests is just plain ridiculous.

ENJOY that pizza! Get some beer and twinkies! :lmao:

So you're going over to her house tomorrow night (unannounced), right? "Gee, Mom, I'm so disappointed I don't smell the roast beef yet. And how are you going to cook the potatos? Don't forget I like my carrots not too mushy and with butter. :teeth: " :rotfl2:

... and twinkies go better with Chardonnay (IMHO)

I totally agree, but I think beer just sounds worse to a mother. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hmmmm.... now I might need to stop by the grocery store for twinkies and nice chardonnay... :lmao:

WW or not I am coming to your house for dinner.

To the OP sorry your Mom was so rude.

Pizza, beer and twinkies......can I have dinner at your place? I promise not to be rude or to ask you to make any of it from scratch. I would be impressed though if you brewed your own beer.

I would be impressed too. Especially if it were remotely drinkable. :rotfl:

ETA: Anyone who would like pizza, beer and twinkies, come on over! I'd love to have you. In fact, I'm milking the cow to make the cheese, and growing the hops, so maybe, by, next May? Sound good? Homemade enough? :lmao:

I forgot that DH is the only one they want to see, not their daughter or their granddaughter.

I find this really strange. What's the deal with that?

Geez! Do we share mothers or what??? That was totally rude.

Whenever my mom hears that we're going out to eat, she gets snarky about our choice in restaurants. Ooookay, and that has what to do with you??? Or if she found out that we went somewhere that she likes, she'll get mad that we didn't think to bring her back some pie or something. Helloooo... I'm not contributing to your early demise (diabetic & won't take care of herself).

One of these days I'll learn to keep my big mouth shut. :lmao:

Thanks for all the replies - I wish I would have read the twinkies and beer/Chardonnay one before she came...I would have totally done that!! (And let me tell you, even this early in the morning, that combo sounds sooo good!)

My friend told me to make sure I have mismatching plates and glasses, and then tell her I was out of napkins or papertowels, so we'd have to use TP instead. :lmao:

But, when she got to the house, she definitely had changed her tune, and of course was as nice and helpful as could be. I think she knew that I was ready to blow, and I wasn't very "pleasant" the whole time they were over. Thank God they didn't stay long!!!

Either way, thanks again for the humor, I love it. We should start a pizza, Chardonnay and Twinkie night. I'd be up to hosting.....and I might even make the twinkies from scratch!! :lmao: :teeth:

The thought that occurs to me is this...does your mother work outside the home or is she perhaps retired? If so, then *she's* a SAHM as well... ;) .

agnes!
