Mother-Son dance song?

My son got married last September, and we danced to "You've Got A Friend In Me" from Toy Story. When his DF asked him what song we wanted to dance to, it was the first one that popped in to my head - I wanted something that was cute and lively and wouldn't be too sentimental. Then I listened to the words...

It was perfect, especially the line that says "no one loves you the way I do." I get a little weepy whenever I hear it, but it was a good choice.

The best Mother/Son dance that I have seen was at my cousins wedding a few years ago. Her husband didn't tell her what he was going to do he just kept saying it was a special song that both he and his mother loved. She was thinking it was this big sentimental song and that everyone would be bawling! They get out on the floor...he took the microphone and started to say how special his relationship was with his mother and how he wouldn't be where he was without her and he thanked her for being so great to his new wife....on and on. Then the song "Tequila" came on and they did the Pee Wee Herman dance during the whole thing! It was hysterical! Then we all did Tequila shots! It was beautiful! ;)

OMG!!! I teared up just reading this!!! I cried my eyes out in Toy Story 3, I mean like openly weeping! Must...go....to...YouTube!

My Son-in- law danced to Can you feel the Love Tonight with his Mom, it was just beautiful. I want to dance with mine to You'll be in my heart. The younger one I'm thinking You got a Friend in Me is perfect he is a big Toy Story Fan. :)

It is not a Disney song but my son chose "You Raise me Up" sung by Celtic Woman. about 1/2 way through the song my sister danced with him and then his Aunt on his father's side. I cried when I saw him dance with my sister :grouphug:

On a little side, my DH is not my DS father. My first husband died when Donny was 4, his sister 2 and brother ws 9 months. My DH raised and loved these kids like his own so Donny dedicated "The man he did not have to be" to Buddy. WE are not a family that excludes spouses as family but for some reason as I was dancing with Buddy all three of my children joined in and for one time it was just the 5 of us.

Really great suggestions!

I think I am leaning towards "You've Got a Friend in Me" for the most whimisical and least likely to make me start crying in front of 150 guests!

What kind of dance step would you do to this song??

Foxtrot.

Afternoon Delight. :lmao:

:rotfl: And my first thought was "Gaston" from Beauty and the Beast. And then Beauty and the Beast....Guess DS18 has irritated me a lot lately....:rotfl2:

Or maybe "A Whole New World" from Aladdin? Or "I'll Make a Man Out of You" from Mulan? I think I just need a vacation from my unemployed 18 year old.....:headache:

How about "Little Wonders" from Meet the Robinsons? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRCZLBSOilU

Not a Disney song but I second I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack. My DS and I will be dancing to this on Sunday. It should be interesting as neither one of us can dance or like to dance! Maybe I can laugh instead of cry. I do like You've Got a Friend in Me. I'll save that for my younger DS.

The Hokey Pokey. There is absolutely no other dance appropriate for a grown man to do with his mother.

Geeze. Who started this dancing at weddings stuff anyhow? Dance instructors, trying to drum up business?

As a dance instructor....no, not trying to drum up business.

Best song ever! And it really speaks to me as my DBF is raising my girls as if they are his own. :)

I have no other suggestions, but I do love "You've Got A Friend In Me" :)
