Mother of the groom dress??

I did not care what my MIL wore- but she kept trying to make me care!! She doesn't have a lot of fashion sense, and kept saying that she didn't want to a matronly dress. I did help her look through some catalogs, and she had one she really liked, so I told her to order it. Then, the day of the wedding, she was wearing this boring, matronly, lavender/grey dress that she hated.
My mom actually wore a black dress- it was strapless and had rhinestones scattered across the dress. It was beautiful- it looked like a 1950s prom dress. I loved it and Mom loved it, and that is all that is important.
If you like the dress, keep it. It sounds like it is a beautiful color, and you aren't going to be standing up with the bridesmaids, so it doesn't really matter what you wear as long as you like it. But, I also didn't really care too much about most things about my wedding- I wanted a wedding dress and my family there, and that's all that was important to me.
Have fun at the wedding.

My MIL wore "beige" at my wedding. Looked a little like white, actually. Why do MIL's do this? So there are no pics of the two of us together in my album. :)

Go with a pretty dress that looks good on you that you are comfortable in. And I say go for some color!

:)

It sounds lovely! I think the colors will be great together, and its nice you are getting the brides imput!

I was in Catherines one day looking and an older woman (80ish) came in with her DH. She said her grandson was getting married and everyone told her to go and buy a nice dress because it was an evening formal wedding. She looked around for a few minutes and picked out a bright purple pants suit. Not a dressy type pantsuit, more like something you would get for a casual event. Kind of a quacker factory knit type outfit! Her DH and the clerk were trying very hard to help her find something more approprite, but she had her mind set on the pantsuit! I really felt for the poor bride!!

Well, DS and FDIL love the teal dress! It only needs one minor alteration and I'll be good to go. I modeled two dresses for them amd they chose the teal. I really do love it. Tomorrow I will probably go shoe shopping!

By the way, FDIL's mother says she is coming to the wedding, but she is just wearing something she already has - or so she says. FDIL has offered to go with her to get a dress, but she says no. We are just happy that she is coming to the wedding, so no one including FDIL cares what she wears.
