My mum has now decided that her outfit for my wedding is not special enough! She has got this really lovely summery dress from Marks and Spencers Per Una, and has some gold strappy sandals, a gold chiffon wrap and was going to get a gold glitzy hand bag.

Garys mum has brought a dress from Country Casuals :confused3 and said to my mum - i dont want to be tarty in a loud colour! Now my mums really upset - i know she was crying about it last night and i hate that!

i love the dress personally - i think its ideal for a Florida wedding but i also want her to be the best dressed person there (apart from me of course ;) )

Does anyone know of any good places where she would be able to get something? She wants something with a bit of sparkle but not black or brown.

TIA :)

Oh Laura that is sad, your mums outfir sounds fabulous and totally appropriate for a Florida wedding, just wanted to give your mum a big hug, I'm afraid I havent any suggestions I havent been to a wedding for ages - I think she should stick with what she has it sounds great.

Also, to let you know I havent forgotten about the baubles ....

We have a designer outlet near us and they have a great shop there from the Jaque Vert group. They sell lots of nice 'wedding' type outfits at a really good price. You can also get hats and shoes there too. The clothes there aren't too mumsy either.

Your mums outfit sounds lovely. Don't let a thoughless comment ruin your day. Just remember its YOUR DAY. Keep reassuring your mum she will look the second most attractive lady on the day. Anyway M&S don't do tarty do they?

Not a clue but hugs for you and your Mum :grouphug:

Her outfit sounds lovely as it is

i agree...the outfit sounds lovely :grouphug: sounds like mil is just jealous ;)

Absolutely, I think her outfit sounds wonderful, try and persuade her not to change it :)

Thanks everyone, i have shown her some of the places you have suggested but i still like the dress she has! I guess when you asy orange people immediately think loud bright orange, but its more of a burnt orange with a slight pattern.

My future MIL has a bee in her bonnet at the moment because her "little boy has moved out" and seems to be taking things out on everyone.

What a shame your mum is upset about that nasty comment, I think her ouftit sounds lovely :goodvibes

If you can't persaude your mum to wear the dress she has Monsoon do some very lovely things. The dress sounds lovely :)

Your MIL is prob jealous that she couldn't wear or isn't brave enough to wear a nicer outfit so she is trying to hide it. Try and convince you Mum but if not then it is prob best she does get something else so that she feels great on the day and isn't constantly thinking about what she has got on.

your mums outfit sounds fine. Hope this doesn't sound stupid but would she feel happier if you could take some digital photos of her in her complete outfit and show her on the pc just how great she looks

in-laws! - outlaws I say

Why not take your Mum to a large department store like House of Fraser, John Lewis or Debenhams where they have personal shoppers who help you choose outfits and quite through in a little pampering as well.

When I got married this is what I did with my Mum and we had a lovely day trying on lots of outfits. The oufit my Mum ended up with was something that neither of us would have choosen and she looked and felt fantastic. I think the personla shopper telling her who good she looked really helped boost her confidence.

But I would also say that if your Mum liked her first outfit she should wear it and just enjoy the day. Does it matter what the MIL thinks, as said above it could just be that she has not got the confidence to wear bright colours and uses "tarty" as an excuse. By the way my Mum wore fushia pink ,very bright, and it looked really good on the photos particullarly next to my pale dress and she was instantly noticable in the pictures.

Just tell your Mum she will be just how you wanted her to be- bright, sunny and happy looking, not dull, miserable and beige ;)

What's important is that she's comfortable in what she wears, but now she's been made unsure of her chosen outfit, perhaps she'd prefer something from a smaller store so that it would be more of a "one off". rather than something someone else may have.

Why not have a special Mum and Daughter day sometime, and look in the smaller boutiques in your town? I think she's on the right track, but it doesn't sound as though she's going to wear what she's bought now anyway.

Hope you find something suitable.

:rotfl: That just sums up my Future MIL - when i was round her house yesterday we had a 20 minute conversation about how "you cant go far wrong with beige, a right nice colour is beige" she kept saying over and over :rotfl: :rotfl:
