Mother dressed as Princess banned from Disneyland

Disney does owe her an apology, if not necessarily anything else, since she was told one thing on the phone and another at the gate. It was clear that it was the security guard she initially thought was kidding around, not the person on the phone. Whether she looked silly or not is irrelevant.

And of course phone CM's never give out inaccurate information, do they?

Also, Star Wars is not a Disney owned set of characters (yet anyways). I must say, however, that I've seen a few people in slave Leia outfits that wish they looked in the mirror before leaving the house.

I agree. But in real life as well. Not just when wearing Princess Leia garb.

I think this person knew the rules and also knew that if they tried to break them and was denied entrance to the parks (until she changed of course) it would make a good story.

My opinion is she was hoping to get stopped so she could get the publicity from it.

Hmmm - this article is poorly written. When I first read it, I believed that she WAS told on the phone that she would not be able to wear the dress. But the article is a little unclear on that ... the wording is odd. I can see how it can be interpreted two different ways.

In any event, I would think that Disney has the right to "refuse service" just like any other business. And with regard to the CM on the phone, I find it hard to believe that a CM would have advised her that it was OK to wear a fancy dress. It is very clear to all Disney park employees that this is not allowed for the obvious reasons stated above.

Personally, and this is just my own speculation, I think what might have happened, was the CM on the phone told the mother that adults couldn't wear fancy dresses that might make them become confused for a character.

The mother decided that obviously her dress didn't fit into that category, but those at the gate of the park decided that it did.

That's just my idea about what might have happened, anyway.:confused3

The question is, how many brides from the Disney Weddings are romping-around in the theme parks in a wedding gown?

One of the first things we were told when booking a wedding is the wedding party or guest cannot enter any park in formal attire.

I agree.
The lady needs to get over it. I think she should be banned for makng a big deal out of it.
If i was a CM i would have stoped her and tell her to change too.
She looks like crap in that dress can you imagine being stuck in the park with a grown woman dressed like that.

I can't see a picture... :confused3

I understand Disney's policy, and she was told NO on the phone. I doubt Disney make s April Fools jokes

Also, while she may not look like a princess she could still be mistaken for a CM or a Streetmosphere performer

That's obviously not a Princess dress. It's a Queen dress, fit for a drama queen! I think she's just trying to get publicity. It irks me how if people don't get what they want they make a big stink about it. Disney owes me an apology! Disney owes me for the cost of the dress! Disney owes me for the cost of the phone call! Whah Whah Whah!

some of the replies in that dailymail link - :rotfl2:!!

I get nervous i'm going to trip and fall getting in and out of rides in normal clothes - let alone in a big dress!!

She's got her 5 minutes of fame worldwide so she should be thanking Disney, not moaning about them

YIKES! I couldn't see the pictures from my original link. I think personally, the dress is too close (whether it's hideous or not) to what one of the princess dresses looks like. I agree with Disney for asking her to change. And I agree that I think she knew it was iffy to wear it or not, whether she called & talked with a cast member on the phone or not. I agree too, that it was all for attention & publicity. So no, I don't think Disney owes her an apology.

Thanks WishSpirit for adding the other link with the photos!!

Like PP said - disney don't owe her anything, it is a well enforced rule in Disney that adults can't wear costume (unless for like MNSSHP or something) - its pretty well known and publicised. Its just the way things are and most people don't seem to have major issues!!

However from what I have read - she only brought that and old tshirt / jeans with her - so she 'had' to then change into the old clothes when she was refused entry in her dress - she was planning on being there for a few days - was she REALLY going to wear that dress every day?? that seems gross and a bit suspect. - a bit sensationalised and a bit attention seeking.

and seriously that POSED sad picture is a joke!! oh we're so sad that we went on holiday which was ruined cause i cant wear this disgusting dress for a few days straight. oh please.

It's sad because she ruined DLP for her daughter. Either way she was wrong. Adults can't wear costumes or wedding dresses in the parks Unattended
she could have purchased attire at a shop or a tshirt to wear.
She would rather call all that attention to her family and make her child feel like a victim
