Mom wants to do a long weekend "somewhere." Disney is not really on her list [I always knew I was adopted! ;)]

Budget should be about $1K each, including air/lodge/food. I don't have a passport. Ideally, no more than 4 nights and not in snow/cold in March or April.

What would you do?

Well, in order to include airfare in the budget we'd need to know where you were flying from.

My mom and I have gone on 2 cruises. We have a great time just hanging out together.

You can search for a date that is good for you.

I know that Carnival oes not require passport. You could use drivers license and certified birth certificate.

Vegas :thumbsup2 The best thing about Vegas is that whatever type of vacation you are looking for you can probably find it there. I barely gamble and I never run out of stuff to do. You can stay Downtown for really low mid week prices and even on the strip you can stay are places like Harrah's pretty inexpensively. I would not recommend off strip as transportation can be harder to come by. (crazy drivers and the streets are a little hard to navigate so I never rent a car and really don't need too). On the strip or downtown you can access a really comprehensive bus system or taxi's are easy to come by and not crazy expensive). There is also a monorail and some el trains between certain hotels. Harrah's has shuttles to most of their other hotels as well.

I also think San Antonio is a nice place (when it's not 120 degrees outside) to visit if you like history and resturants and want someplace warmer. They have some great shuttles from most of the downtown hotels but there are tons of rooms right by the Riverwalk. Have dinner at Tia Rosa. Best Mexican food (decent prices as well) I had while I was there and you can sit right by the river. The Alamo is not to be missed and take a river shuttle, they'll tell you all about the history and architecture. Really wish I had more time while I was there last. (my only trip as an adult, I visited as a kid and I loved it then as well)

Both places have great outlet malls and shopping in general.
