I plan to pay a visit to AAA for an updated book. Meanwhile, I have my CA book that was valid through 2000.
No surprise that there are MANY hotels to choose from right next to DL. All seem to offer shuttles. Assuming these are probably hourly.
Only one actually lists a DL fireworks viewing rooftop deck -- the Desert Inn & Suites. Anyone stay here already?
Anyone have any experience on one of these motels where we could request a room facing the park and see the fireworks from the room?
According to this book, looks also like we are just making it in under the off season. (By chance, not by planning...) Good deal

Actually, we are staying at the Park Vue Inn next month and their web-site also shows a small upstairs terrace to watch the fireworks. I have no idea what it's like since we've never been. I only choose it because the rate was so low ($59.00 per night) and I don't put a high priority on the hotel. I'd rather slurge on souveniors and great food in the parks! ;)

Here's a link to their website and if you look under "amenitites" it shows the terrace.

That's what we thought about a hotel too! As long as it's quiet and clean, who cares? The access would be nice to stay at DL, but too pricey and less perks that off site.
We did stay on site last month (CSR) at WDW. But WDW is mega bigger than DL. But even then we spent VERY little time at the hotel and thought we wasted our money on a lagoon view. The windows were always 100% dewed and fogged over anyway.

The Park Vue certainly looks nice. I bookmarked the site! Thanks! I am surprised tho' that AAA rates it as a one star. <IMG SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif" alt="confused">

I would recommend the Park Inn International which is immediately across the street from Disneyland and DCA. We recently got a AAA rate for $69 and thought this place was good for the money (AAA 3-stars). The rooms were in great condition for the money. The pool is on the fourth floor and overlooked Disneyland. I suppose you could view fireworks from there or from the outside hallways. They also serve a nice free Continental Breakfast.

We just booked the Best Inn for May and it still was only 49 per night and its been redone in Sept. 2000 The AAA book only gives it 2 diamonds but a friend stayed there and thought it was way nicer than the carosal {sp} Inn. Its the Best inn is directly across the street aaand has free breakfest and a micro. and frig. and coffee maker in room. Also 2 queen beds not two double and for the price 49 per night AAA rate i thought it sounded ok for us. Plus another thing I've compared AAA flex tickets to Get Away Todays and also Disney Clubs and so far i think AAA is a betteeer deal. E-Entry every day a magic morning and can upgrade to Goofies kitchen plus free parking and yes it includes both DCA and DL. Only its one day in the park you choose no park hopping as of now. We will be in Calif. 5\5-5\15. We are only doing 3 or 4 days at Disney. Hope this helps, Lisa

Can I get the phone number for Best Inn please? We are planning a trip in July and it sounds like it would be perfect for us. Thank you!

Despite its less than attractive name, I've heard that the Candy Cane Inn is actually a pretty nice place. Don't know much about the others tho.

The Castle Inn & Suites is located nearly across the street from the DL entrance. We've stayed there twice and really enjoyed it (once in '94 and once in '98). It was a very basic motel with decent accommodations. We had a microwave and refrigerator in the room. We stayed in a suite both times -- they're roomy and especially nice if you are traveling with kids and may want some privacy/separation.

It's been a long long time since I stayed at the Candy Cane Motel -- but as I recall I didn't have any bad memories of it. Then again -- how could I have bad memories of it? I was there as a young child (about 4 years old) and had the time of my life with my folks!

Enjoy!

We booked our May vacation with the Anaheim Desert Inn & Suites. There is just the two of us, so I booked a deluxe room. (Really just their standard room.)
They offer different types of suites also. I have their brochure. THey sent it along with my confirmation.
So far they have been very helpful and nice. The nightly rate is also only $54! (With the AAA discount.) They are rated three diamonds by AAA.

We have stayed at two of the hotels on Harbor Blvd that are quite close to the pedestrian walkway. One is the Desert Inn and Suites and the other is the Anaheim Best Western Inn (we were there in December)

I was pleasantly surprised with the Best Inn-an oversized room (IMO) and actually, very comfortable beds. The pool is quite dinky, but we didn't use it. For the price ($49) it just couldn't be beat. We had stayed one time earlier, in December 1997.

We have stayed at the Desert Inn and Suites 4 times. Again, not the greatest place on earth, but the location can't be beat. We liked their "parlour suites", which gives you a "room and a half" We could get the kids to sleep, and watch a bit of tv or talk before we went to bed. I also liked their room amenities: microwave, fridge-we ate b'fast in the room, and kept drinks cold-also popped popcorn for snacks.

I recommend either one.

We are there from 5\5-5\10 and are then going to San Diego for two days then comming back for two days. Buy the way Best Inn is directly accross from Disneyland.I'll post pictures when we come back, but the motel will send you a free color picture and the rooms were all remodeled in september 2000.
