Motel 6

The price quote says that the subtotal is subject to 17% tax. Which seems high to me. Are all the hotels in the Disneyland area subject to 17% tax? Are the tax rates cheaper in places like Buena Park? Cypress, etc.?
Yes. Its 15% + 2% tourism or something like that.

Here are some of the near by rates:
Anaheim: 15%
Garden Grove: 13.05%
Orange: 10.10%
Fullerton: 10%
Buena Park: 12.08%
Irvine: 10%

Thanks! I was noticing some fluctuation based on location but I didn't know what the rates were.

I read the same reviews about thin towels.. actually, thin towels don't bother me.. but then I read further and it said thin towels with hair still in the towels! Sorry but that disgusts me. Then I read further, and found some recent reviews about cockroach infestations and bedbugs. I know you get what you pay for and this is Motel 6 but I was starting to look at the brighter side of things since it was renovated and also saw the video and some good reviews.. but now, I'm having second thoughts. What do you guys think?

My room was spotless and there were no bugs anywhere. The towels seemed new, and were also spotless. I have no idea where you heard that, but it's nothing like what I experienced.

The tripadvisor reviews do mention the bedbugs and strands of hair on the towels. I read that too. You can read 5 reviews that love the place and the next one gives such a different opinion you wonder if they even stayed in the same motel. Then the next 5 or 6 reviews are all excellent and then a negative review pops up again. 90% of the reviews were very good.

They do have 3 listings on the bedbugregistry.com - Other motels/hotels in the area are also on the registry. Any hotel/motel can have this problem.

Any room can have a stain or a bad towel in the batch, slow plumbing, etc. That's where customer service comes into play and from all the reviews I have read all complaints were handled very quickly and above and beyond what others have said about other motels in the area.

I am still keeping this motel on my list and will follow the reviews until it's time for me to book.

Hi Jack! I googled "Motel 6 discount code" and found, among other links, this one that listed the code:
http://www.abnsave.com/motel6.html/

For anyone that might be interested, this video convinced me to book at the Motel6, lol. A guest does a walk through:

I'm concerned this corporate code will require some identification that you belong to ABN. Does anyone have any experience with it? I'd hate to book it and find out the price when up when I got there and wasn't a member of ABN.

I'm so glad I saw this thread. I'm going to Disney for 2nd - 4th Jan and my plan was to travel from my friends place and each time except the night of 2nd so that I could be there for the magic morning the next day. I wanted to treat myself to a stay in the Disneyland Hotel. Then when I looked into the travelling involved from my friend’s house I changed my mind.

So I looked around for all the other hotels and couldn't find anywhere that's been recommended on the board that still had rooms available as I have one of my friends coming with me now. I didn't really want to spend more than my original budget for a hotel and I saw Motel 6 on the Disney website and had my doubts but after seeing the pictures of the room and that YouTube video. Decided to stay from 1st-4th. I even got change from my original budget, something like $70 left over after tax. :cheer2:

We will be there at the same time (Same hotel and everything) Jan 1-6. It will be our 2nd stay at the motel 6. Its nothing special but its not bad either and the price is always good. The walk back from the parks at night can seem long but still doable (we had a 2 yo in a stroller last time, this time she will be 4).

Only issue we had when we stayed was our non-smoking room smelled like cigerette smoke. But DW didnt want to change rooms so she ran to target and bought some air-freshner she read about that was supposed to eliminate the oder and it worked. Even after all day in the parks we didnt smell anything when we returned to the room.

I always stay here and never had a problem. :) We started off when it was the Red Roof Inn back in 2006, I believe and just continued staying here when it switched over.

The only issue I've ever had are that the beds are a little saggy on the sides. When sleeping with two people (at least the rooms with two beds), it feels a little weird, but not a problem for us.

Last year we had a room on the fourth floor facing Disneyland and had a wonderful view of the fireworks when standing outside the room. :) Highly recommend anyone staying to watch from there, great view!

Congrats Lori! Always fun planning another trip.:thumbsup2

I stayed at Motel 6 in July and really liked it. I took my own kettle and an extra blanket, as I'd read reviews that complained about the lack of both - and my own shampoo but I always take that everywhere. The place was clean, the pool and the hottub nice and hot, I loved that it didn't have carpet, the staff were nice, no signs of us and the ART was handy (I got a week long pass, much cheaper).

It did seem like it might be walk able but I never tried as was too tired from all th walking around the parks.
