Motel 6 vs Super 8? A few questions!

I've stayed at the Super 8 twice now. The first time I was pretty impressed--I had an updated room with nice furniture; I couldn't imagine why people were paying $80+ more a night next-hotel-over to be 20 steps closer when my room was just as nice as theirs! The second time, I felt like I "got what I paid for"... It wasn't an updated room. Well, I suppose it was updated--just not since 1985. But, at under $60 a night, who was I to complain?!?.... Well, now their rates have increased... Substantially. Like to the tune of $200 more than what I paid last year during the same week.

I saw a recent TR on here that mentioned Motel 6, and now I'm curious. Anyone want to comment on what they liked/didn't like about Motel 6? Any thoughts on how it compares to Super 8? Walk? Do the rooms have fridges or microwaves? It appears they don't do breakfasts there.

When it's a little closer to time to go, I'll be hunting down the entertainment/retro rates for HoJo, because, at the prices I'm seeing even for M6 and S8, HoJo's retro rates can't be too much higher, LOL!

In my experience Motel 6 is a "sleep only" kind of place. It is clean in my opinion, and I have never felt like my safety was at risk.
There have been no fridge/microwave when I have stayed there, only a TV, beds, and a small table is what you get. They don't have breakfast but they do have coffee and a gift shop where you could buy snacks in the morning.
We have walked to the parks from there, and it's about 20 minutes, but we also don't have kids and can walk fast if needed. I suggest getting an ART pass for here.
You really do get what you pay for here, which isn't much. If you are looking for more luxury or more then a couple of beds I would choose somewhere else.

That's all I really use my room for, LOL... Sleep, shower, and head out again! I'm not a spoiled one when it comes to hotels; I don't expect a whole lot--no bed bugs, no blood stains around the room, a moderately comfortable bed, and DD and I are happy gals.

Sounds like the walk may be just a smidge longer than the walk to S8. DD and I can do the walk to/from S8 in less than 20, probably closer to 15 most days, when we remove those pesky 7-11 stops :)

We just stayed at the Motel 6 last month. It was very clean and made a nice place to sleep. The shower was fine, but they did not provide any soap or shampoo. And the towels are very small. Our room did have a fridge, but I think we paid an extra $3 for it. No breakfast, but they do have coffee and hot chocolate in the lobby as well as some vending machines and small shop. The walk isn't bad at all, definitely between 15 and 20 minutes depending when you get the crosswalks and how fast you book it. No real complaints from us.

Personally, I will never stay at a Motel 6 again. I did get what I paid for which was basically nothing. Room wasn't ready at check in, pillow was thinner than 2 pieces of paper, 3 stories and no elevator. Nope, never again.

We LOVE the Motel 6 near Disney. It's at 100 Disney way and the ART stops right outside the front office to take you to the park. I pre-order our ART passes for a steep discount to be delivered to the M6 and we get them on check in. The rooms do have a refrigerators available for an extra $3 a day and when we've driven I've brought my own groceries and an electric skillet to prepare meals aside from a sit down meal in the park once a day. The rooms are clean, updated, very comfortable and the staff has always been SO nice. They have even opened the pool very early for me so that I can get a work out in before heading out for the day. The pool area has always been very clean and private from the high traffic areas, as there is fencing around it with partial ivy covering it for privacy.

Every single time I've stayed at that hotel I check for crumbs in corners, bed bugs, clean sheets and a clean bathroom and I've never been disappointed. I do ask for extra towels and a hair dryer on check in and have been cheerfully accommodated. Every time I have stayed there has always been bar soap for the bathroom sink area as well as the shower. No shampoo but I never use hotel products anyways, as my toiletry is always prepacked and ready to go!

We've stayed there 3 times this year and I have five more trips planned before the end of November! I used to wonder why people never recommended Motel6 but now I don't care as it's more availability for me!! The staff know me and give me the exact room I want, that looks out towards Disney. I finished up my a work project one night while watching the Dland fireworks from our window, it was just delightful. :cheer2:

REALLY glad to read this as I'm staying there soon and some of the reviews on trip advisor had me worried - good news about the hair dryers too, I won't need to bring my own!

We stayed there a couple years ago for one night. I thought it was great for the price, the staff was really nice. We had a room on 3rd floor facing DL so we got to see fireworks from our room. The Art stops right in front. Unfortunately were a family of six and need a suite.
