Mostly Painless Search Cactus Method

I just wanted to share how I do Search Cactus in the least annoying way possible. I've gleaned these tricks from the rest of you, but I thought it might help someone by having all my tricks in the same place. I use Internet Explorer, I'm not sure this would work in Netscape

(1) Start Search Cactus and log in.
(2) Open up another window right away (Ctrl-N will do it). Now you should have 2 windows open to the Member Control Panel.
(3) Leave the first window at the Member Control Panel. Make note of you current balance so you know when to stop.
(4) Work from the second window only. Type in "A" and the search window and all your previous searches starting with "A" will show up. Click on a likely one (like "Affiliate Programs") and search.
(5) If cactus eyes show up, open the link in a new window. The easiest way to do that is to Shift-Click or hold down the Shift key while clicking on the link. Now you should have 2 Search Cactus windows and one or more windows from the link you opened.
(6) Leave the link open for a few seconds. It really doesn't take long for it to register. Close the window and any other windows that were created to the RIGHT of your 2 Search Cactus windows. I always just get rid of them right from the taskbar by right-clicking and selecting "close" from from list.
(7) Go back to your first window and hit "refresh" to make sure you are being credited. Always search from the second window so you can leave the first one open for checking your status.
(8) Continue to seach and close windows until you have reached 25 eyes. It can go pretty quickly if you don't get distracted. Of course, it can take over an hour if you're trying post on DIS atthe same time!

There is a program called Search Cactus Assistant (it is a free download) that makes Search Cactus quick and painless. Search Cactus has also approved it's usage with their program. You log into SC and then open SCA. SCA has searches with the number of paying sites...you click on the category and the results window shows the all the links. You click on a link and a timer counts down the seconds you need to stay on hte site. When time is up close that window and go onto the next site. Some sites like the SC yellow pages sites etc. onluy credit once regardless of the category so as long as you rmember which of the sites only credit once SC can be done quite quickly.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, SCA tries to fly under my automatic cookie program's radar and I have to manually say "no" to the question "You you want to accept this cookie". Sigh. It did download it and will use it to get keywords, though.
