Most sensible way to get to Goodings - not driving!

I'll be checking into POP on 7/6 in the AM and I won't be renting a car. I wasn't planning on going to the parks but wanted to go to Goodings and then DTD afterwards. I'll be in an ECV :moped: and was planning on using Disney Transportation unless someone can show me another way of getting to Goodings within my budget. I thought of taking a bus to DTD then just riding (on my ECV) to Goodings? Is this too long a haul? An alternative would be to not take the ECV, take the bus to DTD and take a taxi to Goodings then a taxi back to POP? I should mention that I do have a collapsible luggage cart that I can take to help me with the groceries. Which of these scenarios sound good? Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. TIA :)

I’ve walked from the DTD bus stop to way beyond Goodings and was pretty pooped. ( I’ll be having joint replacement surgery in the coming year, so that was a major part of it.) Long story… :sad2: …Luckily, in the store, I met a WDW employee who offered to drive me back to my resort. Very nice lady!!

The road you will need to cross in order to get to the other side of the bus stop is pretty traffic-heavy and in my experience does not allow a lot of time for pedestrians to cross. Once across the street, there is a sidewalk along Hotel Blvd. S.R. 535 is also a pretty busy roadway – you’ve got to move quickly. I would recommend taking a taxi.

Goodings does deliver to the hotels in the area, including Disney. Although I personally find them too pricey, you may wish to consider that as well.

If you just need some basic items (milk, drinks, bread, cereal), they have it in the stores at the resorts. There is also a convenience store/gas station across from Downtown Disney.

Buena Vista Drive and 535 are both instant death for less-than-nimble pedestrians. Don't even think about it.

It's a short cab ride. If you don't mind Gooding's prices, you won't mind paying for the cab.

You can also try http://wegoshop.com/

I agree with Erik. That area around Goodings is hard enough to traverse if you're driving. Trying to get there from DTD on an ECV, I don't know if I'd attempt it.

I have heard good things about the wegoshop service, and they will deliver right to your room. Personally, I've not used them yet as we have always had access to a rental and either go to a Target or Albertson's off 417.

Don't even bother witht the bus to DTD. Call a cab to POR and have them take you to Goodings if you're that set on Goodings.

Good Luck

you can order online from Goodings and have it delivered to Pop. The minimum order is $50 and the delivery fee is $10. I was thinking of using them when I leave this weekend.

I make the trip Marketplace bus stop to Goodings and back at least once every trip in my power electric wheelchair, returning with my groceries tied to the back of my chair. Shady sidewalk all the way, with pedestrian crossing lights at each junction.

True, the crossing over the main highway right outside Crossroads is hairy, but there is just about time to cross if you head across without stopping, the instant the pedestrian light goes green.

I got a Gooding's delivery on the day of my arrival, May 8. The best thing was that I didn't have to schedule the delivery and wait around for it. I was staying at CBR. Gooding's told me they deliver to Bell Services, not to my room, and that Bell Services gets it to me. When it arrives, Bell Services calls your room. If you don't answer, Bell Services hangs onto it for you. What makes it even better, Gooding's told me, is that Gooding's separately packages and labels refrigerator items and freezer items, and the resorts have fridges and freezers just for that purpose.

So, to make a long story short, I got my groceries delivered by Gooding's and didn't have to wait around for them.

Another important thing. The listings on their website may appear rather sparse, but their delivery is not limited to those listings. ABout half of the items I ordered were items they carried on the shelves but didn't have printed on the website. No problem, all handled by e-mail and phone.

It was very convenient, helpful, and money-saving.

Thank you all for your responses. Can someone post the link to Goodings' website? TIA :cool1:

Considering that GOODING is LOTS higher then anyplace else. What about just using wegoshop.com to deliver to you.

For what I need, I decided to use netgrocer. I thought this would be an easy process but for what it entails to accomplish, its not worth it. But thanks for the suggestions everyone! :disrocks:
