Most romantic WDW hotel?

Looking at surprising the little woman with a WDW trip to knock her socks off....what hotel would do the trick?

We haven't been in over 8 years, so I imagine a lot has changed.

It depends upon what your definition of "romance" is. If you want a tropical getaway, complete with walks on a beach and rocking in a hammock, by all means try CBR. If it's Victorian elegance you seek, my vote would be GF. If you two are "snow bunnies" and enjoy the majestic Pacific Northwest and the "great outdoors", WL comes to mind. Think of a theme you would prefer, and go from there; the possibilities are endless!!!!

I agree with the above posts, but would also add, consider the time of year you are going. The WL is wonderful in cooler weather, because there are several places where you can sit in front of a roaring fire. Fiancee and I were there on a cold, rainy, weekend and we had the BEST time hanging out at the hotel, sitting in a little nook, in front of the fire. Even my fiancee (who up until that trip only went to Disney to make me happy) said it was the best trip we had ever had. He is now sold on Disney!!

I would also add to the suggestion list, Port Orleans Riverside, the Magnolia Bend area. This is the area with the southern mansions, and if your wife is the type that appreciates that old-style romance, this is a great choice.

JMHO, but I believe you "create" your own romance and as such you can do it at a Motel 6 just as well as at the Grand Floridian. While I'd not willingly stay off-property on future visits, I'll never forget our (DW & I) first WDW vacation. On a tight budget, we "upgraded" our hotel to the Days Inn near the Orlando Airport. We ate mostly at McD's or Burger King in order to "splurge" on 1 meal a day at WDW.

But the memories we made will last a lifetime! I'll never forget my DW picking a hibiscus bloom and putting it in a plastic cup on the nightstand -- to add some color to our room! We still have the pictures.

We've had many more magical trips to WDW and have enjoyed every one immensely. However, I don't think we've ever topped the sheer romance and fun of our first, budget trip to WDW.

Much depends on your tastes and your budget.

We find POFQ the most romantic of the moderates (and having less children than some others as well).

The Boardwalk Inn and Animal Kingdom Lodge were also romantic. I would avoid the All Stars, they are not really "romantic". Personally I do'nt think the Contemporary is either.

I haven't stayed there, but I would think the Wilderness Lodge would be romantic, especially if you gte one of the hoeymoon suites.

You will probably get as many different opinions about the most romantic resort as you will get replies.... It is really all in what you define as romance. For me I would suggest either the Polynesian (where I spent my honeymoon) or one of the 1 bedroom villas in a DVC resort. I am rather partial to OKW, but everyone has different preferences. The 1 bedroom villas at OKW have Jacuzzi tubs in the room big enough to fit two people. Actually maybe even three people.. (Again, it is all in what you consider romantic LOL!!!) Seriously, it really depends on what you prefer? Do you want a tropical feel, victorian charm, Northwoods beauty, or anything in between. You can find it all at Disney World... What do *you* prefer? What kind of atmosphere does your wife like?

I know it's a convention resort, but I thought Coronado Springs was very romantic. The Mayan temple at the pool is great, there's a "lake", trail, there are fountains that are lit up at night, etc. But, again, it all depends on what you define as romantic. (and of course cost factors in a little, although since it's been 8 yrs you might want to go big at WDW this time!)

I recommend doing some reading about the themes of each resort and deciding what YOU think fits into you and your wife's definitions of romantic.

I don't really think you can go wrong when it comes to the magic of WDW!

Get the book "Walt Disney World for Couples" by Rick and Gayle Perlmutter. There are great descriptions of all of the resorts that should make your choice easy. Romance means different things to different people so try to get this book and it may help you. Happy Planning!

My "2002 Passporter" states that "The Boardwalk Inn's Garden Suites have got to be the most romantic in the "World". Each of the fourteen suites looks like a two-story cottage, all with private entrances and most with their own unique garden surrounded with a white picket fence with a trellised arbor gate. They have a separate living room, sleeper sofa, and a wet bar on the first floor, while the open second floor has a king-size bed, separate shower, and a large whirlpool tub.

Sounds good to me! I also highly recommed Polynesian.

GF is very elegant and romantic. (went there when we were JUST a couple). We loved how intimate it was and getting the very best of service.

WL, intimate and romantic. (Went there with 2 kids and our comments since then have been..nice but would have been PERFECT without the kids!!!!)

I'd have a hard time deciding.

I agree you can't beat WL when you can enjoy a cozy fire!

Pick the resort to suit your style and budget - we are slowly going through all the hotels to see which one we love the best (so far it is the Grand Floridian) but we have had many romantic experiences in each. Riverside is lovely with great rooms - we had a wonderful view of the fireworks, Port Orleans has beautiful rose gardens and song birds and bunnies everywhere - it is like being in a disney movie. We spent two hours one lunch in a completely deserted quiet pool at the Boardwalk surrounded by gardens - I will remember that afternoon forever. Everything about Grand Floridian is romantic. Note: If you want to stay at a moderate and treat yourself to the Grand Floridian for one night - move there the last night - don't make it your first evening!

Other romantic hotels we plan to try: Coronado Springs, Contemporary, Yacht Club, Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian

You will have a romantic trip no matter where you are - have a lovely time!

If it is within your budget... The polynesian is the most romantic resort.. There are other nice resorts... But for romance the polynesian is far above the rest... The white sand beach with tiki torches... Lying in a hammock while watching fire works from the magic kingdom.... Sitting in the sand and watching the water padgent parade.. You really get the feel of island seclusion... You will not be disapointed!!!! Have a great trip.....

I would have to say either the Poly or the WL. I love to stroll around the Poly with the tiki torches etc...it's so island-y and romantic. I love the WL and the serene, unrushed feeling I have when I'm there. It's very picturesque.
