Remember the good old days when payphones were in banks outside the restrooms, and if you wanted to make a call, you had to go there to do it?
My dad owned a thriving business back then, and would check in two or three times a day with his secretary from the payphones, usually while we ladies were in the restroom. We never felt it was an intrusion on our vacation or that it cost us attention from him as a Dad.
Why is it that people can't take their cell phone calls to a more quiet location? My dream would be to have 'designated cell phone' areas like the smoking areas where people can go, talk as much or as loud as they want, and not disturb others.
I understand there are emergencies and there are exceptions to every 'rule' of etiquette but it's gotten insane. You can't walk, move, or roll (in a wheelchair) without someone on a cell phone in your way in the parks absentmindedly walking and talking.
I hated being in line in the Peter Pan queue with a teenaged girl on her phone near us (on and on and not appropriate language, either! Believe me, no emergency there!)
It's all about respecting people, and the price they are paying for their vacation. Disney ain't cheap. And when I spend my money to go there, the last thing I want to do is have some guy closing his real estate deal at the next table in a fine restaurant (as has happened to me) or people beeping their kids every two seconds on their Nokia 2 way radio phones (GRRRRRRR!) Whatever happened to "We'll split up and meet at the castle at 3pm?" BEFORE splitting up?
Not... *beep*"Where are you?*beep* Well where are you?*beep* Is Dad having fun? *beep* Yeah, we're having fun too!"
Unfortunately, you just can't expect people to be polite anymore

But believe you me, if I'm eating a 30.00 steak at the California Grill that I waited all year for, and you're making a stock trade at the next table on your phone, I WILL complain to the waitstaff. Take it outside.
