There are 3 new babies in our family (not mine!) this year, so some of my brothers and sisters couldn't go to Mom's for Thanksgiving. The other 2 live far away. My mom has always cooked. When I realized it would just be her and dad and our family, I said I'd cook.
I will do this every year!! No more waiting til 8 pm to eat, because my brother is running late, etc. Our younger dd is 5 and mildly autistic. Waiting for my brother to show up, or being in a big crowd of cousins is hard on her. She loves them, but in smaller doses.
This year, I wasn't holding my breath waiting for her to meltdown. In our house, when she's had enough stimulus, she can just retreat to her room. As far as cooking goes, I just did a turkey breast, and the usual sides. It was so unstressful!!
I hope you all had a great holiday too! Or enough wine to offset it!!
