Most over-hyped things on dis...

[*]and Mickey Bars--folks this is simply an Eskimo Pie shaped into a mouse head.:rotfl2:

Aww - it's kinda like eating animal cookies - biting off the heads first! :lmao: It brings out the canibal in us all (or in me! :rolleyes1)

[*]Storm-along-Bay--as another poster wrote earlier--it is a pool not a mini water park.
[/LIST]

I clearly must be out of the loop - Dare I ask, what is Storm-Along-Bay? :confused3

Pin Trading - they're pin badges. Overpriced pin badges. What on Earth do you do with them when you go home?

Riding up front on the monorail - it's not that great.

Test Track - I was waiting for it to get fast.

Other than food(where the obvious choices are dole whips, turkey legs, zebra domes,etc...), what are the most over-hyped things on this board.

For me, it has to be crocs and bagellini messenger bags. I don't need to have ever tried them to know that a good pair of broken in sneakers and any one of a dozen backbacks that I have in my basement won't do the trick.

Feel free to chime in and to those who love the things that are over-hyped, keep right on lovin'...to each their own.

PS At the risk of getting assaulted, I will add one more...TGM. <ducking>

YES YES YES YES. Crocs= BBBBBAAAAAAAADDDDD for feet

Bagellini- I was expecting something fantastic.... when I saw it... ehh....

But, Crocs, most definently

Deluxe resorts. Even though we stay at them (because we need two queen size beds!), we find them pretty average as far as hotels go. Not as luxurious and beautiful as some here make them out to be.

Food. Again, we make ADRs because we like to sit down and be waited on at least a few times during our trip, but we're yet to be as impressed by any WDW restaurant as some DISers are. And no, it's not because we have "undeveloped palates", either. :lmao: :lmao:

Parades, especially Spectromagic. :confused3 We aren't big parade people, would never wait around for an hour or more for one to start. We gave Spectromagic a shot because people here raved about it so much, but it was very short and we all thought it was just so-so.

Pins and pin trading. I am so hot at WDW, no way in heck could you get me to walk around wearing a lanyard weighted down with a bunch of pins. Plus, they just don't interest me. Seems like a ploy to get you to spend even more money. :rotfl:

I'm sorry but Animal Kingdom.
The paths and walkways are too narrow.

Crocs: They are so not me.

Pre-trip reports: While I don't mind having a general idea of some things I'd like to do, or some places I might like to eat, I can't imagine having an entire vacation mapped out. How will you know which days you'd like to sleep in vs. which days you want an early start? What you feel like eating? And people seem to get so bent out of shape when things don't go according to the itinerary.

Going back to the hotel for a break: We go until we're tired and then go back to enjoy the resort. If we want to stay late for fireworks, we just start later in the day, and then stay for the duration.

Split stays: I don't like to interupt fun by having to pack up everything just to unpack it all again a few hrs. later.

Pre-buying souvineers: We're not big on buying stuff anyway, but I don't understand buying something at home as a memory of your vacation.

Disney Transportation: I know some people don't consider it a vacation if you have to drive a car, but I'd much prefer hopping in a car vs. standing around for 20 minutes, for standing room only on the bus. Besides, when I have a car I can just stop by the store to pick up water, sodas, beer, etc... instead of shipping it to the hotel.

Back packs etc...: I try to go to the parks with as little as possible. I'd much prefer just to buy water, snacks etc.. as I go, than to lug all that stuff around with me. As for the other things - I'm shocked at the lists some people have of all the stuff they bring in to the parks. I'd feel like a pack mule with all the "just in case it's needed" stuff

I think that's about it for my list.

I have to say Crocs and those awful looking Vera Bradley bags.

Don't knock it until you try it. I've stayed at all and can honestly say the deluxes are worth every penny. Once again this is only my opinion.

And mine as well, though I often joke w/DH about being a "resort snob", we've done them both and I don't ever want to go back to value, again.:cool1:

Wow. Not sure if other threads like this have been out there (I'm still sorta' new to this stuff), but it looks like people really needed to vent! :furious: :)

OK. I’m not sure that it exactly fits under “over-hyped”, but anyone ever think that all the abbreviations are just a bit much sometimes?? I know it’s faster to type, but there is quite a learning curve for new users! ADR, DDE, DDP, MNSSHP, MVMCP, DVC, MS, EMH, BBB, AP, OP and now we’ve got a new attraction called (M)onsters (I)nc (L)augh (F)loor of all things – it’s almost too much!! :rotfl: Let’s just say I performed lots of searches like “what is DDE” when I first got here!!

It reminds me of that Robin Williams line from “Good Morning Vietnam”: “Seeing as how the VP is such a VIP shouldn’t we keep the PC on the QT ‘cause if it leaks to the VC he might end up MIA and then we’d all be put on KP.” :lmao: Anyone ever start a thread to see how many abbreviations could be used in one sentence and still have it make sense (at least to people on this board)? Not suggesting it, just curious. ;)

Soarin'
turkey legs
parades
Dinosaur
Winnie the Pooh ride

:confused3

I'm in the Boma group. It really wasn't all that... it seemed too Americanized for my liking.

Mission Space-- I find it is a boring ride as soon as the launch is over.

The constant Universal bashing. Universal has some very interesting concept rides as well.

Deluxe Resorts--don't do a thing for me. I liked Wilderness Lodge, but I like values and moderates better.

TGM- why pay for tips you can get for free here?

Pin trading--that concept is lost on me.

DISNEY CRUISE! --sorry it just wasn't for me and I felt that I could have gotten a longer nicer land vacation for a huge cruise price.

.....I clearly must be out of the loop - Dare I ask, what is Storm-Along-Bay? :confused3

No problem in asking. Storm-along-Bay (aka SAB) is the fancy pool of the Beach Club and Yacht Club hotels (oops, I meant resorts;) ). It is a popular pool and is often the subject of infamous pool-hopping threads.

I forgot to add to my list the awful, horrid, absolutely dreadful Beavertails. Heavy fried dough with glop on it. Never got the appeal of these....

For me it has to be The Jungle Cruise. I know there are many who love it but we are not among them.

I also don't see what business it is of ours if someone reuses a mug or stay 5 to a room. If they don't mind being crowded It's OK with me.

Penny

After reading this thread, I am so glad that I am not the only one annoyed by the abbreviations. Especially the "ressies", Its reservations.
The million and one questions about the Disney Dining Plan, about what they should eat, when they should eat, and how should they eat. There is a thread on here that has all the information you will ever need.
Crocs, eh... they are an update version of the '70's jell sandals.
TGM, like a poster said earlier, with all the " disney boards" out there you can get the same info for free.
all threads about bringing infants and young children to the parks, they are your children, you should know.

DCL - Cheese plate, cheese plate, cheese plate, OMG you just gotta get the cheese plate!!!

Mickey Bars - It's ice cream. With chocolate on it. And not even good chocolate. Gimme a Dove bar instead.

The Disney Rewards Visa hype. It is a lousy 1% reward on each $100! Yup, a buck. A whole dollar. But hey, spend $300 and you can get the Mickey Bar with your Disney reward. Look out! :woohoo:

LMAO!!!

Crocs = Godsend

Staying at values. I would rather stay offsite. Once you go deluxe you never go back. It helps having an AP discount and saving up. I think it's worth every penny.

i LOVE values
i've stayed at deluxe and i was fine to go back to values
theres more atmosphere
