I know this has been discussed ad-nausium (sp) but I am in a quandry. I am trying to decide what to have autogrpahed for DD 7 on the Magic repo cruise. It is a very special trip so I want to make sure it is something she will always cherish. I have thought about a pillow case, picture mat or T shirt. What do you think would be the best most valued item? All input is greatly appreciated.

for the longest most durable use-a very large disney themed tshirt (use a black laundry pen)-my kids wear their's endlessly. for a longer term more sentimental item how about a christmas ornament signed by the character it depitcts, or one of the models of the ship signed by the captain.

I know your DD is only 7 now, but you said you want something to be autographed that she "will always cherish". My favorite autographed souvenir is the map of the caribbean that the Captain signed, and which I brought home and framed. He will even take his black Sharpie and draw in the course the ship takes through the islands, like he did with ours (see below). It might not be something that appeals to a little girl, but it's something she will always be able to display; either in her bedroom or her home when she's an adult. Here's a picture of what it looks like:

The map is not expensive at all, and the Captain has autograph sessions during which he will sign things for no charge.

If you are looking for something that all the characters can sign, I really like the idea of the picture mat. Then you can put a picture of you and her, or just her, or the whole family, etc, in the mat :)

I had the tattoo artist that does his work by the Goofy pool tattoo The Magic on my left ankle. It took about 2-3 hours but it is the most permanent souvenier I've ever gotten!

Thanks all for the great suggestions. I think I will have the map signed for me which Heather will evetually inherit. I think Heather would be up for the tattoo. She loves blood and needles. :rotfl2:

Tee hee hee. I thought you'd find that funny. I have no tattoos and they don't have a tattoo artist on the ship!

I got the map signed for my dad! BUT, I also dropped it off at guest relations AFTER Cpt Tom signed it and got CPT MICKEY to sign the other corner! I bought the frame for it right on the ship, it wasn't that expensive either. It was black with Mickey's outline cut out in the corners. He loves it! :cool1:

I dunno - getting a tattoo is probably less painful than getting your hair braided, and they do have hairbraders on board. If DD had a choice between getting her hair braided, getting a navel stud from the onboard body piercer, or the tattoo (preferably in the small of the back, so that I don't have any 2nd thoughts at all when I ship her off to a thick-walled convent), she'd probably go with the tattoo.

Of course, the credit card bill received at the height of post-cruise depression really really hurts too (and this just for the cruise tab, nevermind the upfront cruise cost paid months in advance).

What a great idea, I didn't even think of that! :)

My wife took a white child's apron for our 6 yo daughter on our cruise in April. I can't remember who all signed it but it was a lot! They also added the cruise line logo centered at the top of the apron. Several of our friends have suggested we frame it rather than let her use it.

They did have a map for the may repo cruise, but like all the other merchandise it was gone the first day. Also, I never heard it offered to those on the cruise that weren't able to get it (like they were able to get more T Shirts). The map is the one think I've been looking forward to getting since my sister went on a cruise last august and told me that they sold them. When I saw the one on the may repo, I got all excited, only to find out it was quickly sold. Hopefully we won't have the problems with merchandise they did, but while I figure they will make up more T shirts for our cruise and maybe have limits to the amount that can be purchased, I doubt this is an item that they will increase the amount of by a huge amount.

Where can you get the map ahead of time? I think I read someone bought it prior to sailling....thanks, Lisa

You're killing me - I am at work and I started laughing out loud. :rotfl2: Which as you say by the time I get the bill I will be crying out loud. :sad2: Heather keeps asking for the braids but her head is way too sensitive.
Heather would probably go with the tattoo although I think she would want it all. She too will be shipped off to the same convent.

Donna - let's rendevous at the store as soon as it opens with pillow cases in hand and we will buy up as much as we can. Instead of selling it on Ebay we will be generous and sell it to our fellow cruisers (for a small fee of course) :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

This is a little off topic, but here is a link to a page on my website that has pictures of some of our other souvenirs, if anyone is interested :)

There is also a picture of the autographed ship, too. :boat:

Thanks for sharing your wonderful collection. Gave me some great ideas. Looks like you also collect Lladro?

did they draw in the logo? or was it like an iron-on that they did? did you ask for that done? or was it a total surprise? thanx! :flower:

We purchased one of the maps and Captain Thord signed it when we did the Western cruise; if we ever get to do the Eastern one, I plan on bringing it with me so I can have it signed by that Captain. :flower:

I was thinking about buying a tee shirt as soon as I could on the ship and leaving it to be signed for my kids. I just can not remember when they first open up the stores. We are only going on a 3 day cruise next not sure if this would give them enough time to have it signed. DK's are not going with us and I thoughit this would be a great surprise for them.

I bought a poster of a blue rendition of the ship and had all the characters sign it. Then I had as many officers, crew members and our wait staff sign it as I could; not to mention the Captain. Most of the officers and crew where surprised to be asked for their autograph. It is a really cool.
