Most Magical DVC Moments

For us, we had already had two wonderful trips staying at Port Orleans and were so surprised at our first trip home to BWV 1br that we couldn't beleive our blessings to be in such luxury. Thereafter , our Disney Vacations were more valued and I can say we haven't been let down.We joined in 1998 and have doubled our points to over 350 since. We've stayed at all the DW DVC resorts since with family and anticipate and value each trip. The CM's, Disney ,and good fellow guests continue to contribute to this antcipation and Magic

I think that one of my magically moments happened this past trip. We had just gotten off the cruise ship and were heading to BWV. Dd (6) was throwing up sick. We arrived at BWV around 11am. I couldn't image what we were going to do with her, we had to be near a bathroom. Well, while I am checking us in our CM says, oh since you have little ones, I have a room that is available for you now. Oh, what a blessing that was.

Another moment from our recent trip, was ds (2) on the carpet by the elevators at BWV stepping on all the mickey heads and saying mickey mouse! That was truly special!!!

I do have to say that last yr we had some magical moments with the character caravan. I really wish that they still had that. I have wonderful pictures of our children with the characters and some great memories too. Goofy sitting down on the floor with my 1 yr ds was just awesome.;)

We havent' been to our home resort BCV yet, but made two trips to HH last year, at Thanksgiving and Christmas. There were so many "moments" it is hard to list them all:
1. A DIS meet at the Beach House with Chef Gordon and all his fabulous desserts and wines. We made some truly wonderful friends that night.

2. DH golfed at HH, which has always been a dream of his.

3. Watching DD14 and DS9 ride around the island on their rented bikes, free as can be and not having to worry about where they were or dealing with crowds.

4. My DH telling me that every second of the 12+ hour drive (which he did alone) was worth it to be in HH.

5. Football on the beach on Thanksgiving Day.

6. Walking back into our villa after several hours at the beach house, to the smell of a turkey cooking and the kids just grinning ear to ear about having a vacation and a traditional Thanksgiving too!

7. Watching my kids get hugs from all the great CMs, including Todd, Bryan, Cathy . . . (too many to recall)

8. DD14 took the kayak tour and came back jumping up and down telling us about all the wonderful wildlife they saw, including a bald eagle!

9. Sitting next to the pool on Thanksgiving Day, calling friends and family to wish them a happy turkey day while the kids swam in the pool.

and. . .
10. Surprising our kids on Christmas Eve with the news that we were doing it all again the next day with our best friends in the world and their two miracle children -- their DS2.5 they'd adopted just 4 months before (who almost didn't make the trip due to a very serious kidney condition) and their 2 month old biological daughter who was born on her daddy's 40th birthday (her daddy and I have been best friends since before we were born:D -- now THAT's another story)

We are looking forward to so many more magical moments with friends and family over the next 39 years!

My greatest memory was of our first trip with the in-laws. My wife's parents were staying in a studio using our points for three days before we arrived. When we arrived we were lucky enough to get the adjoining one bedroom. We greeted them by opening the door connecting the rooms (which then became our 2BR for the next week). They were excited and impressed. They were also delighted that they did not have to move any of their stuff.

I have greatly enjoyed reading everyone's posts. There is little doubt that "thar be magic in them thar resorts."

I expect there are plenty of other wonderfully magical stories about CMs, the perfect room, something that brought a smile to a gloomy day....

I always feel the magic when we drive up to OKW. Just checking in makes me smile, and opening the door to that GIANT room the first time is so special... This time was extra special because the kids opened the door to the verandah and a whole bunch of ducks came running up, begging for food, as if they had just been waiting for the next family to arrive! We went thru 9 loaves of Winn-Dixie bread in 3 days! Those ducks and the kids were magical to me...

When we checked into Hilton Head the campfire was about to begin, and to start it off they asked a trivia question. What was Nemo's nickname in the fish tank? I barely thought about it and my daughter yelled "Shark Bait!" and so she got to ring the bell and officially start the campfire festivities. I thought to myself "Boy are we lucky to be here!" Even in South Carolina you feel "the magic!"

Well, this isn't the most magical moment, but one little touch that I remember. We had a long morning in the parks, lots of fun, but the 3 year old was getting really worn out, and was unhappy. We tried to go to the Japanese steakhouse to eat, and he started crying and carrying on while we were waiting for our table. Everything I tried to get him to settle down wasn't working and all the sudden one of the hostesses came up and started making a paper animal for him, she engaged him and handed the little animal to him, and after that he was fine for the rest of the meal. I thought to myself, only at Disney. I'm glad we bought into DVC.

The look on our kids' faces when we entered our 1 bedroom at OKW for our first DVC stay. DD turned to us and said do we really get to stay here?!!!!

My reaction when I went around and counted 10, yes 10 windows in the villa, and had to tell the family do you know we have 10 windows?!!!!

Then looking at DH who was grinning from ear to ear.

Truly magical-we were used to All-Stars and Coronado Springs. We came to realize future trips with teenagers would increase the hotel bill by $15-$25 per night(no longer under 18).

Staying at a deluxe for cash was not going to ever happen in the future, since the All-Stars would cost this additonal money. DVC made our trips better than a deluxe hotel room.

My most recent magical memory was the look on my parents faces (they are 84) as they entered the WL lobby with all the Christmas decorations. The picture I have of my Dad napping on the sofa in our villa was priceless!
My Mom keeps asking when are we going back?

I think I wrote about this before but here goes:

About 7 years ago (I know because DD was still in the pack and play) we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and really thought we had hit the big time!! No more Days Inn outside of WDW!! Anyway, I woke up in the middle of the night for a drink, I walked out on the little balcony and lite up like a Christmas Tree was the Castle, that was pretty cool!!!

Last November we were at OKW and the inlaws came in for the day, we ate at Cinderella Castle, didn't plan this, but half way through dinner, the lights dimmed and we had a birds eye view of the fireworks, my ds loved this, I even saw a twinkle in DH's eyes!!! Couldn't have planned that evening any better if i had tried!

Every DVC trip is magical for us, but there are a few things that stand out.

Our first DVC trip as members in a 2 bedroom seemed so luxurious. Then we took extended family of 11 folks total and stayed in a GV at OKW in January. Everyone was so awstruck at the accommodations, and it was the first trip to WDW for many, so the whole trip was just magical.

On our second DVC trip, it was just grown DS and DH and I. We stayed in a 1 bedroom to save points. DS and I had taken the bus over to play mini golf. When it was time to return, we were dreading the fact that we had to go all the way past OKW to DTD and then transfer back to OKW. We had one of those magical bus drivers. He had picked up a LOT of media folks at the Dolphin who were going to DTD , but had obviously started to party at the Dolphin. He started joshing with folks and introducing himself as "Crazy Jim". As we approached OKW, I quietly said to my son, "hey maybe Crazy Jim can just drop us off here and we can walk the rest of the way." Crazy Jim overheard this and asked where we were walking to. I said, OKW, and he said if we didn't mind just stopping at HH, he could give us a Disney Day. So with a bus completely packed with folks standing in the aisles, he switched his sign to "special" and pulled into OKW and dropped us off at HH! DS thought we were SO special! It is our favorite Disney moment ever!
