Hey I have a question for you Disney fans, what do you think is the most luxurious resort Disney has to offer? Thanks! :cool1:

Generally I would say GF
But really it depends on your taste.
I could understand if people said AKL, or CR, or BW or BC. even WL

Grand Floridian.
My adult son made the comment that he was glad we chose to stay at Board Walk Inn. He thought it was more suitable for children.

Without a doubt, the GF. I plan on staying there for a week, when I retire.....

I have to agree with the others, it would have to be GF. I've never stayed there, never plan on staying there. However, DW and I love cocktails and appetizers at Mizner's, especially around Christmas time.

I'm a WL person. Love BWV and BVC too for access to Epcot and DS.

Well "luxury" is a very subjective term, but I would have to pick GF as well. Please bear in mind though that there is no truly "luxurious" resort at WDW, I would call them more "luxury -light". ;)

Love this...

Sadly only their rates are "luxury"

But GF is definitely marketed as their luxury hotel and is supported by some great dining options on site as well

I'd say the GF.

I can remember the first & only time we stayed there. It was shortly after it opened so they gave us (we had a group of over 30 people) a good rate to stay there.

I remember walking into the main building in my bathing suit with my big Mickey T-shirt (sadly I just retired that shirt about 5 years ago & my story is going back to the late 80's). I felt so under dressed. I was looking for my mother who was in there doing something (maybe getting snacks/tickets??).

Even to this day when I hop on the monorail or the bus from the Poly & we make the next stop to the GF, I still feel under dressed and I am in shorts & a shirt.

One time we were on the bus & on walks a family of 4 dressed to the nines. My 2 kids (at the time) were in shorts & tanks & hats. Not these kids, they came straight out of the magazine pages right up to their shoes. So to me that meant luxury & I am not a luxury kinda girl. OH & we were headed to a park on that day.

Very true. Of all the WDW resorts GF is by far the nicest, it really is a different experience compared to the other deluxes.

Compared to other luxury hotels (Bellagio, Ritz Carlton, Peabody, Omni, Four Seasons, The Plaza etc, etc) the GF falls behind, mainly because of the room size and bathroom. GF rooms are tiny and the bathroom almost dank compared to some of the rooms we've stayed in.

GF gets my vote. Even my ds - 13 and dd -10 do not want to stay any place else!

I think it would depend on what you consider luxury...I really do think that the GF is qualified for the "luxury" catagory, but I like the Poly much better-the grounds are gorgeous!!! Very romantic! I like the theme MUCH better than the GF.

If you want the most luxurious room and not the resort it would be the presidential suite at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Funny you should comment about feeling under-dressed at GF. I've seen a number of guests there that I'm surprised could afford a Motel 6 on A1A. NASCAR tank tops, Metallica t-shirts, NFL jerseys, old gym shorts, cut-offs with holes in them, etc.

I realize everyone has a "right" to dress as they wish, but come on now. I'm all for dressing comfortable and casually, but I think some folks take it to the extreme. Wearing something to hit the parks is one thing, hanging out in the lobby, or having a nice dinner is something else.

Oooh, I know some folks aren't going to be happy with that. Sorry.

Oooh how correct you are. I love how people can be so quick to judge.

Let's see, I have worn a Metallica Tsirt around the GF. I believe I was wearing my Buffalo Bills Jersey when we checked in. Since our room wasn't ready should I have changed into my suit and tie to wait in the lobby?

How someone dresses doesn't equate as to what they make.

Also ANYONE can stay at the GF. Not just rich people who dress nice.

Oh this is just so wrong on so many levels. Please don't be so quick to judge someone by the way they dress. Just because someone wears a Metallica t-shirt, (my DS13) NFL jersey (my DH) or what ever it maybe does not make them any less deserving of staying or visiting the GF.

I so agree with you on this. :thumbsup2

To the OP we do feel that the GF is very luxurious and have stayed there many times. With that said it also depends on what you feel luxury should be. Every one is different.

even though the GF is the sig resort at disney, I somehow think of the Poly as a very nice resort

Struck a nerve with that one I guess. I never said that someone couldn't stay at GF.

My point was that there are probably more appropriate things to wear in the evening if one was going to dinner, or to have drinks. It's not about class-envy.
