Most Likely Anytime FP?

From estimating about around 4 months of looking at waiting times, too much according to my daughter lol, I have seen Test Track appear most often as down.. Hoping its up for at least a couple of hours tomorrow.

edit: Test Track appeared when weather wasn't a factor, and then it was down of course with the rest of the outdoor rides when weather was.

Important point is that your FP won't switch to an anytime until the window opens. Last trip we did (may), I noticed that pooh was down. So I made a 4th fast pass for Pooh 10 mins later. Pooh was still down when the window opened and it converted. So my wife and I were off to ride 7DMT with our anytime FPs.

So if your timing is good and FPs are available you can use a down ride to your advantage. Especially when a non headliner goes down... that said, it's impossible to plan on this happening, but fortune benefits the prepared.

What? I've had pooh go down twice and they never include 7DMT on the list you can use instead of Pooh.

From our last trip we have had a few FP added to our account and it had certain rides they couldn't be used for. I don't think I've every gotten an anytime FP from a ride breakdown. Do they also have not good on certain rides?

Broke down and restarted or evacuated?
Restarted, this is normal
Evacuated, not at all normal

Evacuated. I asked the cast member if he was going to give us fastpasses. He said no. (This was several years ago, but I had read here that people got fastpasses if they were on a ride and it broke down; that's why I asked. I didn't make a big deal about it. That's not the example I wanted to set for my nephew.)

On our last trip I intentionally booked our next FP for an outdoor attraction when I saw the storms were about to hit. Once I was issued anytime FP, I was then able to book another FP, and it let me book for rides that were currently down for the storm. I was shocked it let me do that before using the first anytime FP. It was July 3 in MK and we had a group of 6 so it was hard finding FP even for things like Dumbo at that point so I stopped after 2, but in theory it seems like you could rack up quite a few that way?

Maybe I am remembering wrong and we did use the anytime FP before booking again. It's hard to remember because we also had DVC FPs. But I know for a fact it let me book for rides that were currently closed with almost immediate availability, resulting in an anytime FP.

Was that this year? We were in WDW on July 3rd also, except we were in AK. We got hit by the same storm, it was around 4:30pm if I remember. We were in line for our Dinosaur FP+ when the ride went down (not weather related, I presume). It converted to an anytime FP+ and we learned the same trick as you. It was supposed to be our first FP+ of the day, and not only did it give us that anytime FP+, it also let us book another one for a specific ride to replace the Dinosaur one. Pretty cool.

Correct. 7DMT will NOT be on the list of rides you can book as an anytime FP+ if you have Pooh, Buzz, etc...

While that may still be the case they did change the way MK does their replacement FP this year. They no longer group them with similar FP.
It may still exclude 7DMT, unless you had 7DMT to being with. I can't remember now.
But on our trip in June we had a ride go down and I noticed the change in our replacement choices. I researched it at that time and found that yes, they have done away with the way they were doing them

Yes, you are right...I think. I don't know all the specifics either, but when we were there we had a few anytime FP+ for various reasons. 7DMT was not in the grouping, but a ton of rides were. It seemed like just about everything except 7DMT (don't recall if Splash or Space were or not) I don't remember it being like that as recent as last year.

I've had relatively few anytime FPs, and I've had ones that excluded 7DMT, but I'm 100% positive the one we got in May (for Pooh being down) let us ride 7DMT. Because we did ride it, Mickey tapstile turned green. I have no idea if that was something exceptional going on, but for sure it let us use it on 7DMT.

It includes pretty much everything except 7DMT and Peter Pan.

ToT went down on us a couple times during our January/February trip. In June, it was something simple that went down, but I cannot remember what. We basically had booked it just for the 4 year olds though.

Definitely make sure to see the FP options at the bottom of the Anytime FP to see what you can ride. I know that when I went to ride Frozen in June, someone was trying to use their Anytime FP and it was not working. The CM had to show them where to look to see what they could use it on.

Today, Frozen went down at about 10am when it only had a 25 minute wait, ouch.. Then Living with the Land went down at about 11am I think, lol. Was back up at least by 130pm though. Then it rained like the dickens around 1pm and Test Track went down for most of the day, was up around 730pm when I went over again. Frozen was down also again in the afternoon from about 6-7pm. Waited out Frozen in the afternoon and then was able to reride in standby as the queue had emptied out while it was down.
