I couldn't find what looked like the right board to ask this, so posting here.

Looking for a REALLY FUN restaurant near WDW that isn't a Disney restaurant.... 2 adults, 2 kids ( age 5 )...... it is all about what is fun for them --- as long as it isn't Chuck E. Cheese. ;)

We're staying at the Sheraton Vistana, so if it is close to that, it makes it all the better! If not, no big deal, we will have a car.

my ds5 loves Rainforest Cafe. Its not a disney restaurant, its a lot of fun and it is in dtd. so it is really convenient....

How about Mikado's Japanese Steakhouse in the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort? We took our 2 nephews there, ages 5 & 7, and they had a ball! They have a kids' menu, so you don't have to spring for food that they won't eat, and the tableside chefs kept the kids entertained.

I'd second the Rainforest idea-if you don't have one near you.

Although it's not necessarily the most "fun" restaurant, but if you are looking for a good place for really good desserts, you might want to consider Friendly's. The food is OK, but the desserts are absolutely incredible.

Well, there's always the world's largest McDonald's, which has special non-McDonald's menu items (Bistro menu linked on webpage). The panini sandwiches are actually pretty good. We usually hit the European bistro location at some point because my kids like the talking trash can. :rotfl:

Another thought: Pizzeria Uno lets kids make their own pizzas.

Steak and Shake on 192. Its a friendly atmosphere, and the ice cream is great.

If you want to find something fun, try Sonic off of I drive near Universal. We have gotten the roller skating waitresses a few times. My kids don't have an actual drive in place near us, so that was a novelty for them. To me, it was just like eating in the car!

my kids enjoy kobes and margaritville. They also like boston lobsterfest. They love getting all the lobster you can eat!

Golden Corral is always good. They are a buffet though in case you have never been there. They also have a game room for the kids to play.
Located very close to the Vistana.

Orlando Ale House. Although not a "kids" restaurant, they have a childrens menu with lots of choices that include drinks and ice cream for dessert. The food is awesome (esp the buffalo wings) Located just outside of downtown disney.

TGI FRIDAYS is in the Crossroads Shopping center just across from DD.

Rainforest Cafe in DTD, Joe's Crab Shack, Planet Hollywood in DTD, Hard Rock Cafe, Margaritaville and Bubba Gump in Universal City Walk are all fun for our kids.
