I will be going in December with my whole family and my only daughter is celebrating her 13th Birthday while we are there. I was wondering what thoughts anyone had on which place did the best! I am planning on ordering a special cake for her as well and have hit the message boards for those as well but any thoughts it would be lovely to have them posted here as well since my head is spinning. I am trying to do something special she always seems to get a bit shafted since her birthday is so close to Christmas. Thank you for you thoughts and advice in advance.

There are so many great choices for a thirteen year olds birthday!

Some suggestions:

California Grill - during fireworks

'Ohana - so much fun, you can also time this with MK fireworks

Cinderella's Table - so magical!

Narcoossee's - fantastic meal, again extra special with fireworks

Any place in the world showcase (teppan edo might be fun for a celebration)

Good luck deciding!

Thank you all good I was just wondering if anyone has done things in the parks and the wait staff made a fuss over the birthday guest? I do believe the fire works will be great. I see you are Beach Club bound in Dec. too I'm so excited have fun

Unfortunately, there really isn't any one restaurant or park that you can count on for a big "fuss" on any birthday.

With Disney's "What Will you Celebrate" promotion, everybody is celebrating something at the parks, and there are tons of Birthday celebrations throughout the World on a daily basis. CMs do their best, but they can only do so much when everyone seems to have a button on.

I think that you're doing the right thing, ensuring your own magic by purchasing your own cake. If the waitstaff doesn't fuss and fawn, her family can make up for it with extra fussing and fawning. :goodvibes

I don't mean to make your blood run cold when you think about your DD possibly getting the 'shaft' again. Generally speaking CMs are great about wishing guests Happy Birthday, having a character call, etc., but extra pixie dust can't be counted on. I hope some finds you, but it's good that you have a plan to create your own.

Besides, it'll be a lot more fun to be surprised by extra special treatment, rather than expect it as a parent and be disappointed if your DD doesn't get it. :goodvibes

We were in WDW on my DD's 13th b-day.
What we did that day:

breakfast at CRT
manicure at Periwig salon (located at Beach Club - our resort)
dinner at Akersus in Norway
Illuminations Celebration Cruise (boat was decorated with balloons, banner, etc. and I had a b-day cake delivered to the boat as well)

It was a fabulous day! Happy -b-day to your DD!

How did you like the cruise I was thinking of that. How much was it did you have to pay per person?? That sounds great

We had lunch at Beaches and Cream - Beach Club. My son was wearing his birthday button for his 13th. The waitress turned on flashing lights and the whole restaurant sang to him. Loved it! As we were leaving I heard another child say they wanted to come back for a birthday. A really fun lunch.

Make sure you make PRIOR arrangements about the birthday cake!! There was a post somewhere a few weeks back where a lady bought a cake from a WDW bakery & attempted to take said cake to a different restaurant where they were celebrating. Long story short they could not store the cake in their kitchen since they had not prepared it & the lady got very upset over the whole incident.

So, before you buy the cake & IF you plan to take it elsewhere to enjoy, talk FIRST with the bakery AND the restuarant you're going to be celebrating at to avoid any misunderstandings or hard feelings.

But DO have a great trip! Your daughter is a lucky young lady :)

The cruise was about $250 (I think)..not including the tip. It was our family of 4 & we also invited friends of ours who were also staying at the BC...so it was 8 of us total.

We enjoyed the cruise. We were driven around the lake area & then parked to watch Illuminations. It was while we were parked & waiting for Illuminations to begin that the captain brought out the cake & both CM on board started singing Happy b-day to DD. Then everyone on the boat next to us joined in as well.

The cake was absolutely wonderful & there was so much of it that we shared it with everyone on the other boat as well. After Illuminations, we were driven around the lake again & the younger kids on our boat DS & our friends DD6 got to take turns driving the boat. We really had a great time!

We were at the world for my DD's 13th in Nov. She picked the day and wanted to go to Animal Kingdom then swim and over to Garden Grill for Dinner.
Her other request was an event from Gifts of a Lifetime as we had done that once before and she loved it.
They did a wonderful scavenger hunt throughout the monorail resorts with the idea that Donald is missing and Stitch is impllicated and we needed to find out who really did it and where donald was. (Stitch is her favorite Character). It had us end outside the Garden Grill so we could go into dinner. I paid a bit extra and the prize at the end was a stuffed birthday Stitch and gift cards for her siblings. It was a perfect birthday, she LOVED it. It wasn't cheap but very different and fun for all as they worked her siblings and friend that joined us into the clues and gave them jobs, too.
