Update on the World Showcase print

I have good news, bad news, and good news...

Good news: The World Showcase print arrived in the mail today! :yay:

Bad news: They cut off a few countries. :headache: They treated the 11" in height as the main requirement, and had to cut off some of the picture to keep it at the length I ordered. I expected them to print the whole thing to length, and give me white space at the top and bottom.

Good news: They're going to re-print it, no charge. :)

When I received it and saw that it was the full 11" in height, I knew they had to have cut off some of the picture. (Norway, France, and the U.K. were sacrificed. ) I called the phone number in the shipping documents and told them that I wasn't happy with it and what the problem was. They were nice about it, but the first thing the guy said was, "Well, if that's what you expected (to have white space at the top and bottom) you should have stated that in the 'Comments' box when you ordered." I said, "Maybe so, but if you were going to cut off data in my picture, I would have expected a phone call or an e-mail that there was an issue with my order." He agreed, and wondered out loud why the technician didn't call.

Anyway, he liked the picture, wondered how many photos it was made of, and commented that you can't tell where it's stitched together.

A re-do will be on its way shortly. :thumbsup2

i would have gotten it right on the first time, but you didnt ask your good buddy dan to print it for you.
:rolleyes1

even after i told you how it is done.
:sad2:

You could have done it really?

What I remember from your suggestion was that it would have cost me around 6 grand.

Glenn, don't bother with Dan. I'd get it done for only 5 grand, tops.

Glad they were able to make amends! Nothing worse that paying for something that doesnt' come out quite right. Looking forward to the finished deal. Maybe you'd sell your original, so we can all order one. (or be nice and jsut give it to us.)

Yeah....maybe that's where the confusion came in.

You drive a hard bargain.

okay, ill do it for 5 dollars less than what they charged you at your online place.
;)

Now you tell me.

Looking forward to seeing the REAL finished product!

I'll try to post something when it comes...a picture of a picture.

PM me and we can talk terms. ;)

Day 8 - Part 3

When we finished up our slushies, moussies, and carrot sticks in France it was about a quarter to 1 o'clock, and time to move on to Morocco. When we walked back into the heart of the pavilion, Judy had the same reaction I did -- she had no idea that there was so much to see back there. Naturally, shopping was a major attraction to the ladies in my family so somehow we immediately drifted into the bazaar.

I have no idea how I managed to get a picture of this area with no people in it.

Marlene found this settee (I believe that’s what you’d call it) and struck a dramatic pose.

IMG_3965.jpg

Then we wandered further back, past Restaurant Marrakesh, near the fountain where Marlene and I had a Photopass picture taken the day before. I looked up the number for the pay phone across the courtyard in my cell phone and let Lauren call it.

IMG_3966.jpg

She got to talk to….

Marlene.

IMG_3967.jpg

They could have done the same thing with a couple of soup cans and some string, but for some reason this was a lot of fun.

Marlene came over and joined the rest of us and we just hung out there for a minute. Then we saw a man and woman come around the corner and my kids said, “Dial it! Dial the phone! Dial the phone Dad!” :hyper: So, I hit the button.

The phone rang.

The guy looked at it. Paused.

And walked over and picked it up. My kids got all giddy and started jumping around. :yay:

The conversation went something like this:

Guy: “Hello?”

Me: “Hi, um, where is this phone located?”

Guy: “Morocco.”

Me: “The actual Morocco?”

Guy: “No, at Epcot.”

About this time the guy’s wife / significant other started getting her camera ready to document this fun moment he’s having.

IMG_3968.jpg

Me: “How’s the weather there?”

Guy: “A little drizzle, but it feels good.”

Now the wife is full-out taking pictures of this magical moment. (Sorry mine are a little crooked -- I was trying to talk and take pictures at the same time.) My kids were laughing and excitedly moving around, but trying not to be too obvious.

Me: “Hey, are you paying for this call?”

Guy: “No, you called me!”

Me: “Oh no, this is going to be expensive.”

And at that point I was just going to hang up and keep it our joke, but Marlene wanted to have a big “reveal” moment, so she begged me for the phone.

Me: “Hold on. Someone here wants to talk to you.”

<I hand the phone to Marlene>

Marlene: “Um, look over by the fountain.”

Guy: “HA!!!”

<hangs up>

“Oh, well played! Well played, sir!”

IMG_3970.jpg

They walked over and talked to us for a minute. The guy said, “I walked by, and the phone started ringing. And all I could think was, ‘When you’re at Disney, and you walk by a phone and it rings…how can you not pick it up?’” :confused3

They had really gotten a kick out of it, and we finally felt like we’d had a really good pay-phone call. At last!

We walked back into the bazaar area and James found a spot to sit down in front of this mural of a Moroccan town.

IMG_3971.jpg

I dream of Marleney. :genie:

IMG_3972.jpg

Everyone loves a fez. Careful James, you’ll get fez head.

IMG_3973.jpg

I stopped to take a picture of this Moroccan alleyway. When I started to take the picture, it was empty, like you see it. But of course, people started wandering through. It took a minute or two of waiting before I could get a picture of it empty and serene like this.

IMG_3974.jpg

In the center of the picture, in the distance, is the fountain – the “you’re in Morocco” fountain. We walked over to it.

IMG_3975.jpg

No, I didn’t ask James to strike a pose like mine from the day before. Who knows what would have happened?!

The last thing we did in Morocco was to check-out the little museum called “Moroccan Style -- the art of personal adornment.” I remember seeing some elaborate clothing and jewelry, some examples of henna tattoos, and a horse dressed in its finest ‘Sunday-go-to-meetin’ clothes. It’s a nice little stop that’s well worth the few minutes it takes to look through it.

I loved your phone conversation! I wasnt sure you were going to let him in on the secret, but I think that made it funnier. Great (and yes, magical) moment!

1 Judy unless she changed outfiots then there's 2 !!! Loved the Tour of Morocco !!I have to check it out more thoroughly , I was tooo busy laughing at Jordan and D Jay the last time !!!

What a fun phone call! Cool that you got someone willing to play along....and too funny that Marlene had to do the reveal :lmao: I tried a couple times....don't know what I would have said if I'd actually got anyone to answer. :confused3

:worship: on the phone call! So fun! It's great they played along, and then had fun with it, too! I love the Reveal!:thumbsup2

I think Morocco is the best themed country at Epcot. The allies, and the sounds and smells make it just perfect. The CMs working back there are so authentic, too. I love how they have things just " randomly" displayed - out on rugs and shelves, etc.

Good call on the fountain! :rotfl2:

So, how does the not quite right print look like? It still must be pretty impressive, even if it misses some countries! I am glad that the company did see their error. When people order such specific stuff, you would indeed expect them to clarify it if it isn't clear what is wanted?

This post is especially for Poolrat and Flossbolna. :)

Oh, thanks! :flower3:

1 Judy unless she changed outfiots then there's 2 !!! L

And the one Judy is even placed so that Mickey is pointing at her!! :lmao:

Looks like everyone had a great time exploring Morocco. The area in the back always feels very empty of people, I think most don't venture further into the pavillion. Which is a shame, it is very beautiful. :goodvibes

Hey, great to see that you made it over to Part II....I thought that maybe I lost some people.

Thanks, it was a fun moment!

I'm not sure about the "changing outfits" thing, but 1 is correct! So, get this:

You win this round Rosie!! :cheer2:

Great job! I thought this one was pretty tricky. I expected a lot of "no judy's" responses.

The phone call was awesome! Glad you finally got a bite! :cool1:

Thanks! I was glad we finally got a bite too!

It was fun. I had no idea what I was going to say either....that's what came out.

A memorable moment, for sure. I was glad that we revealed it to him.

I think you may be right; and to think that I just walked past it on previous trips. :guilty:

Good call on the fountain! :rotfl2:

Yeah, I think so too!

Oh yeah, it's awesome...you can see a lot of detail, people walking around, etc. It just doesn't show all the countries. I was wrong in what I said got sacrificed earlier -- Morocco also got chopped.

I'm afraid that when I get the replacement, I'm going to wish it was the same size as this one, just extended out further to include all of the countries. Because it won't be as magnified as this one.

Oh, by the way, the new one shipped yesterday at 3 o'clock...a couple of hours after I talked to them. :thumbsup2

Oh, thanks! :flower3:

:)

Oh yeah, you're right! I didn't notice that!

We certainly did. I think you're right -- I know I hadn't ventured back there before.

The one night I called it an early night and I miss an update. That will teach me.:sad2: I see the one Judy and the Mickey pointing to her.:)
The phone call worked out real well this time. That made all the attempts and effort worth it.

Trying this from my phone so I am curious how it will post. Hey it looks pretty good emoticons and all.

I have been following along in lurk mode, so you didn't lose this reader!

A couple weeks ago I had my first successful Epcot pay phone conversation. The gent was having a great day and traveling with a group. At the end of the chat he asked where I was and asked if he could visit. :confused3 I sort of froze and then said I was in Maryland, and he was "welcome any time!"
I am not sure how my husband would feel about that! But no one has turned up at our door, so I think I am in the clear.

Keep those updates coming!
